What to stash this week if you’re not in Edinburgh

The folks over at Siidegarte have made up for you missing out on the Edin Yarn Fest and the Find Your Fade craze. They’ve curated three Find Your Fade kits that include seven 90g skeins of their gorgeous silk-infused yarn. The kits are available on three different bases, using both existing Siidegarte colourways and a few special edition ones. And there’s a discount, this weekend only!

Sheila and Lance of BigFootFibershave stocked their shop full of spring colors (it might be snowing in the Northeast today, but it felt like spring earlier this week!) including Robyn’s Egg, St. Patrick’s Day, and some Rainbow mini and mega mini skein sets.

Because who can resist something called a llamicorn, Julia of Pandia’s Jewels has her fun Pink Fluffy Llamicorns colorway available to pre-order through Sunday, March 19 at 8 p.m. Eastern. Plus, every customer gets a free Pink Fluffy Llamicorn stitch marker!

Socktastic, Lara Smoot’s latest sock pattern, was so addictive that it converted even her most sock-reticent test knitter, the lovely Michelle of Berry Colorful Yarnings. Use coupon code SisterlyLove for 40% off the pattern through March 15th.

Zombies are appropriate for any time of year, not just a certain holiday in October. My Mama Knits’ Zombie-themed yarns are now available on a variety of Superwash bases in varying weights, including DK and sock.

The latest from Stillwater Designs, Salt Pond, is a top-down crescent shawl worked with alternating sections of garter and slip stitch, framed by a simple eyelet border and inspired by the salt pond at Point Judith, RI.

What to stash this week: A mega rebellion

We all know that big, bulky yarns are a saving grace of the holiday season — or are perfect when we need to be warm, stat. So, it’s a great time to enroll in the SpaceMonsters Mega Club. As a club member, you get a skein of worsted or bulky weight, hand dyed by Stephanie in an exclusive colorway, delivered every other month, and a special gift tucked into every third parcel. The price isn’t too mega, either.

Inspired by the new Rogue One movie, Julia of Pandia’s Jewels has dyed up yarn in colorways like Jedi, Vader, Is that an Ewok or a Wookie?, Rogue and Rebel, and debuted a new Rogue One notions tin. Join the rebellion!

Ami of Lakes Yarn and Fiber just introduced a new base called Rose, a decadent blend of 80% Merino and 20% Cashmere. She’s also offering free shipping on U.S. orders through Dec. 24 with the coupon code FREESHIP16 and $10 off international orders of at least two skeins with the coupon code INTSHIP.

Barbara Benson’s newest design is an easy-peasy cabled cowl that knits up quickly in bulky yarn, perfect for the polar vortex that has descended on much of the U.S. The clever design is knit vertically with no grafting required, joined together by sewing on buttons.

You have until Sunday, December 18th, to enroll in the 2017 Where We Knit yarn club. Four dyer/designers teams — The Woolen Rabbit & Anne Hanson, Eden Cottage Yarns & Mindy Wilkes, Three Fates Yarns & MK Nance and Spun Right Round & Casapinka — will create exclusive colorways and accompanying accessory patterns inspired by where they knit. If you need a last-minute gift for a special knitter in your life, or you still have to give Santa a hint, there’s an option to send a gift subscription.

What to stash this week: A yarn vintage

Vintage No. 1, the first custom yarn blend from Middle Brook Fiberworks, is now for sale! For the fingering-weight, woolen-spun yarn, Anne hand picked fleeces from Shetland and CVM (California Variegated Mutant) sheep, raised on a small farm in Pennsylvania that Anne eventually purchased her own lambs from. She added a bit of shimmer to the three natural shades with silk — golden muga for the Chestnut and Beech, and tussah for the Almond — and had it all processed at Gurdy Run Woolen Mill in Halifax, Pennsylvania.

There’s still some room in the virtual bus/train/plane for you to come along next year on a journey with the ultimate indie yarn club. Where We Knit 2017 brings together four dyer/designers teams — The Woolen Rabbit & Anne Hanson, Eden Cottage Yarns & Mindy Wilkes, Three Fates Yarns & MK Nance and Spun Right Round & Casapinka — to create exlusive colorways and accompanying accessory patterns inspired by where they knit. Space is limited, so sign up soon!

Through December 24th, Bijou Basin Ranch is offering free shipping on all U.S. orders, plus everything is up to 25% off.

Yoshi & Lucy have debuted their holiday colors, which are available in full hanks and in mini skein sets.

What to stash this week: yarn actually

The last Eden Cottage update of 2015 has everything except yogurt and chocolate buttons. There are several new skeins of hand-dyed yarn, primarily Bowland DK and BFL Sock, both 100% Superwash British BFL, along with gorgeous wooden shawl pins and sheep hand carved in Japan. There are also some sale yarns — Victoria’s lovely Askham 4ply, a super-fine baby alpaca/silk yarn, has been reduced by 25%. You’ll also get 10% off when you purchase 500 grams or more of Askham 4ply, Milburn 4ply (Superwash British BFL/Silk), Whitfell DK or Whitfell Chunky (both 100% baby alpaca). And, if you need some inspiration, patterns from the Drift Collection, inspired by ECY’s Whitfell DK, are now available in book form, which has beautiful photography.

JOMA Yarn has added 32 skeins to the shop, including new semisolids like Mr. Roboto, Roller Derby and Grapezilla and complementary variegated yarns like Sanctuary, Jungle Boogie and We’re All Alright, on their signature Glam Panda (Merino/bamboo/nylon) base. What to stash this week: Seas and sales

I was thrilled when Nikki of New Zealand-based Dark Harbour Yarns finally posted on the Marketplace about her most recent update, which is also her last of the year. It includes some gradient sets and kits for the Vexillology shawl from fellow IU artisan Mitenae. You definitely need to act quick on this one, as the Yarn Hoars have already descended.

In time for the holidays, I’ve stocked the Indie Untangled/That Clever Clementine shop with logo bags and Snapdragon notions pouches, a fabric yarn bowl and a few products with the exclusive Untangling kit fabric. There’s a Loopy Lulu bag and two different Untangling Snapdragons, all ready to ship. I’ve also decided to keep the excitement of Black Friday going, and I’m offering free U.S. shipping on bag orders of $75 or more!

Casapinka’s Boomerangles give you a couple of options for easy, satisfying shawls with a unique construction: Half is a boomerang in stripes, while the other half is an elongated triangle in simple slipped stitches and stockinette, with a picot edge on the top of the garter portion. There’s the Boomeranglet and the full-sized Boomerangle. Both use three different colors of sock yarn and are perfect for leftovers.

What’s better than seven new hand-dyed colorways from Miss Babs? Getting it on sale, of course! These new, limited-edition colorways are available on Bijou Basin Ranch’s Tibetan Dream, a luxurious fingering-weight blend of Yak and nylon, which can be used to knit Laura Chau’s new Odyssey Cowl. Through Dec. 24 there is free U.S. shipping and 15% off all regular-priced items with coupon code YULE2015.

The new Gringolet Cowl continues on KarenDawn Designs’ Round Table theme and is inspired by the knight Gawain’s faithful horse. Knit appropriately in the round, it combines increases and decreases to create geometric shapes, including a central stitch pattern that resembles horseshoes. The sample uses YOTH Yarns Little Brother, while the pattern requires 400 yards of fingering-weight yarn.

I’m sure you know a gin-loving knitter, and here’s the perfect gift for them: Linda of Kettle Yarn Co. has put together kits with a handmade Gin & Tonic project bag, a project bag tag and a 100g skein of Twist fingering, a bouncy British BFL that’s available in five coordinating colors. You can also upgrade the kit with a handmade, fair trade white brass Ewe shawl pin for the ultimate knitter’s gift.

You’ll get a skein of yarn each month that will be exclusive to club members for at least one year. There will be KALs and chances to win prizes in the Invictus Yarns Ravelry group. Once you subscribe, you will be billed monthly and membership will continue until you cancel or the club ends.

While I was at dinner recently with a group of my knitting friends, one of them told a story about a time when she was agonizing over buying a skein of yarn at a local farmer’s market, and her wonderful husband uttered the above phrase.
