Discover the allure of our latest charmed styles. The Dazzling Dragonfly and Petals embody the beauty and serenity of nature. The Medallion is a symbol of timeless elegance. Each piece has its unique charm. By popular request, we’ve restocked our charmed bee, Celtic knot, blossoming, Tardis, English rose, and Claddagh styles. Which among our recent additions resonates with your style the most?

Find these new additions and our usual array of products in our booth at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. This year you’ll find us in Barn 5. It’s the highlight of our weekend at any event seeing how each person styles their handknits with our shawl pins. Show off your shawl pin style in the booth for a free gift. Not sure which pin would go best with a project, bring the project or a picture and we’ll gladly help you find the perfect match. We hope to see you there!

One of the things that first drew me to knitting was the desire to do something with my hands.

To take what essentially equates to sticks and string and wave my hands to create something beautiful.

I love the feel of the yarn as it passes through my fingers.
I love the meditative rhythm as I form each stitch.
And I love the challenge of working within the medium and seeing how I can bend it to my will to do incredible things.

My need to hold and work with physical items (paint brushes, prototypes, pens and paper) seems so at odds with someone who effectively lives most of her professional life on the internet.

But there is just something real and satisfying about a physical item so truly grounded in the real world.

This is why despite owning just about every gadget under the sun, I still plan all the things in a good old paper planner. It is also why I was ecstatic when last year a knit club friend asked me to design a knitting planner for the shop.

Once I allowed myself to daydream, my heart swelled.
This was going to be epic!

I wanted it to be beautiful and tactile.
I wanted it to be an archival place to remember all the things (even if I gave the project away as a gift).
But most of all, I wanted to be able to use it help me actually KNIT the project, not just record everything when I was done.

I am so ridiculously proud of how it turned out and have been using mine for months secretly waiting until the day that I could announce it to the world.

And today is that day!!

My dear friend, I’d like to introduce you to my baby… The Project Journal

How to use the project journal:
Step 1: Use the specially-designed project page to record all the details of your project.

Step 2: Attach samples of your yarn and use the built-in pocket to store your gauge swatch or your ball bands for later reference.

Step 3: Take notes, record your modifications, or even design your own patterns using the included dot grid & graph paper inserts.

Step 4: Slide your pattern into the page protector and bend your journal backward into “Easel Mode” to sit on the table beside you while you work. Use the included elastic band to slide down the page and keep track of each line as you work it.

And yes! We do have extra fill pages for when you fill all of these ones up 😘

Browse the booths of over two dozen vendors from Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia. The vendors will be offering a variety of hand-dyed yarn and fiber, raw fleeces, handcrafted soaps and lotions, bags, stitch markers, pottery and finished items. There will be sheep shearing demonstrations throughout the day, and a local guild will be onsite doing a fleece-to-shawl demonstration. Enjoy a meal or snack from two food trucks.

We will be collecting non-perishable items for the local food pantry. Please bring a canned good or HBA item to donate.
There will be a yarn winding station available for all your new purchases. Cost will be $1 per 100-gram skein. All proceeds from yarn winding will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
For those coming from outside the area, there are several other local festivals going on that weekend in addition to the abundance of hiking and biking trails that are available at nearby Ohiopyle State Park. Ohiopyle, PA, was recently named the Best Small Town in the Northeast by USA Today.)

We have restocked Take a Hike on Plumpy Sock Stuff and Mindful on Fluff Stuff (Suri silk). These two yarns were used by a test knitter for Andrea Mowry’s new Brume sweater pattern. The test knitter held these two yarns together and it turned out beautifully.

Also added to the shop is Take a Hike on Bulky Stuff. We just love how the speckling looks on the bulky weight yarn.

Hello from ECY Shedquarters! At the recent shows, we have had lots of people asking about sport weight yarn and the skeins we had with us sold out super-fast so of course we had to oblige with an update of Pendle Sport! This is our Superwash extrafine Merino in a sport weight yarn and we’ve produced a lot of colours all in batches of ten skeins so that you can get sweater quantities. You can find all the available Pendle Sport in the recently added section of the website or in the Pendle Sport category, and you can find out more about this yarn in our Introduction blog post here. This update is a wide selection of ECY classic semi-solid colourways in sweater quantities so you should find something for any project!

We had several requests for more of the yarn for the Peppy Scarf as seen in Laine Issue 20. The yarn used for this is Keld Fingering in Heliotrope, Mellifer and Rust, which we have set up as a yarn pack. As these colours sold out so quickly, we have set up a preorder for the set and there are still a few of these available. You can find this on our homepage.

We are once again overflowing with yarn snippets which are a by-product of our post-dyeing processing. These colourful offcuts are too pretty to waste and make an ideal stuffing material for a range of projects. These are free but we do ask that you pay for postage. You can find them on the website here.

This year is jam packed with yarn shows and we can now announce that we will be exhibiting at Yarningham on the 13th and 14th July in Birmingham’s Uffculme Centre in the UK. We have a list of all the upcoming shows we will be attending on our website here. Our next show will be Buxton Wool Gathering on 18th & 19th May 2024 in Buxton, UK.

What is a reusable fabric calendar?

This is what our Advents are famous for! Basically, it’s the wrapping for the mini skeins. It’s handmade. There a picture on the listing of last year’s. We are trying to be eco friendly by giving you a 100% cotton fabric reusable calendar with pockets! Handmade numbers let you know which pocket to open on which day.

Enjoy advent knitting and the Christmas season with our beautifully handmade, 100% cotton Advent Calendar. The fabric calendars, made by Dave, have little pockets individually numbered to let you know which mini skein to open each day. It’s not just the home for the delightful little mini skeins, it’s part of the entire experience!

Reuse the fabric calendar next year and fill it with sweets or surprises making every Christmas a shared adventure in anticipation and joy. Imagine refilling it with treats for your kids, creating a countdown filled with joy, or exchanging it with your spouse to discover new goodies each day.
