New Yarn for a New Year!

2015 is going to bring a few changes in the label line-up for Cedar Hill Farm Company yarns. The first change to announce is the addition of a new yarn altogether: JOURNEY. Because it marks the beginning of a new direction for our yarns, and because it is ideal for lacey and cable-y socks and shawls, we think that this is the yarn that you will want with you on whatever your 2015 journey may be. 100% superwash, this 4-ply Merino is squishy-soft and absolutely luxurious! Journey yarns are hand painted in very small batches of 3 and 4 hanks to ensure that colors are vivid and uniform, and because of the nature of our dye process, each hank retains a one-of-a-kind quality.

In the spirit of going on a journey, all of the colorways of this collection will be named for the spectacular destinations that are worthy of anyone’s bucket list. Even if you are unable to travel there, you can wear the colors of the world’s most beautiful landscapes and cityscapes. Each colorway in this label debut has a story to tell, as well. For example, Avignon is so named for the lavender gardens that surround the stone monastery of Abbaye de Senanque near the historic town on Avignon, France. The colorway Cappadocia, of course, is named for the area in Anatolia, Turkey, where the landscape is rich with cordovan and the colors of desert sands. Additional colorways making their debut include: Lerwick, Glen Coe, and Norris Point.

Also, look for Journey as a featured yarn in Tangledmania’s “Knit-the-Book” event in 2015. One of these color ways will be used to knit the Ivy Trellis Mittens from Alana Dakos’ Botanical Knits.

JOURNEY is now available in limited quantities in the Cedar Hill Farm Company shop at Zibbet.com.
