Notting Hill Pattern and Kits

I love simple sweaters, where less is more. Notting Hill was inspired by the famous London neighborhood, with its rows of cream and at times colorful buildings. The minimalist slip stitch pattern of the yoke echoes the geometry, and the colors of a sunny day in Notting Hill.

For Notting Hill, I chose a natural, undyed yarn for the body of the sweater, and I dyed a blush color using magical natural dyes for the yoke detail. The cream colored yarn is a DK blend of alpaca, merino and silk, while the blush is made of a strand of fingering non-superwash merino held with a strand of silk mohair.

Notting Hill’s construction matches the simplicity of its design. It is knitted top-down, in the round, mostly in stockinette stitch. The short sleeves are knitted in the round from held stitches. Notting Hill is seamless. The yoke design highlights the beauty of the neckline, sitting gently on the shoulders. Tubular cast on and bind offs contribute to the fluidity of the sweater.

Customizing Notting Hill is easy because of its top down construction. You can shorten or lengthen the body as there is no shaping, and sleeves can easily be adjusted as well. Notting Hill is a size inclusive pattern with finished bust circumference from 34” to 70”.

The Notting Hill kits are hand dyed using natural dyes only on non-Superwash, nylon-free yarns.
