Summer Knitting: Chevron, Garter, and Suri!

We are nearing those days (or we hope we are) of warm sunshine days and cool nights — but also a time when we may be lucky enough to be chilled out thanks to the A/C in buildings. And so as summer nears, Chiffon will be my go-to for everything! The light airiness of the yarn, stitches, and the bright pop of color to “go with” anything!

Chiffon is an asymmetrical shawl that begins with an i-cord cast-on and alternates two different yarn bases in a growing chevron pattern while maintaining finished i-cord edges. The garter knitting is easy to get lost in while traveling, listening to a book or sharing time with friends.

The yarns used for this shawl design were just the right mix of textures but also happy colors!

This design was inspired by an upcoming venture to Spain for a yoga retreat. I wanted something light and airy for the summer, but a bright accent to pop with any attire or location… a fancy dinner, touring a museum, or hanging on the water.

Designed for fingering weight yarn. For the sample, I purchased yarns from House of A La Mode. Heather is always creating something spectacular in all the bright colors!
