This Friday 11/30 at 7 p.m. Central will be the last shop update of 2018! Two Christmas-themed mini sets are featured: Gingerbread Men and Peppermint Mocha. Both sets are five mini skeins of hand-dyed yarn. Gingerbread Men is on SuperSparkle Sock and Peppermint Mocha is on Divine Sock — both are Extrafine Merino at 19 luxurious microns.
Who can resist some sparkle around the holidays? “Gingerbread Men” is a mini skein set of five colors inspired by the gingerbread men that I adore baking (and eating!) with my family. There are five minis — 20 grams each — for a total of 100 grams and 435 yards. The first update sold out so grab yours during round two, which takes place Monday, November 19 at 3 p.m. Central!
There is still time to snag an advent calendar!
25 sparkle minis will light up your Christmas knitting with glittery cheer! Orders will ship the week of November 19th so there will be plenty of time to cast on for Ambah O’Brien’s ADVENTurer wrap on December 1st.
Hurry, orders close November 5th! Shipping as always is free.
Didn’t get to Rhinebeck this year? There is still plenty of fall fun to go around! I had a lot of fun with these fall themed mini sets – “Something Wicked This Way Comes” is a 100% SW Merino DK weight was inspired by our family reading of MacBeth this month, and “Glampyre” – a fun super sparkly fingering weight mini set that definitely fulfill your need for all things glittery!
It’s almost PSL time again!
Friday August 24th at 6 a.m. Central time, BigFootFibers celebrates all things fall! This update focuses on a PSL mini set preorder. These are limited edition and make fun socks or shawls. Close to You by Justyna Lorkowska looks exceptional in this set!
Also there are two Beekeeper sets left in the shop with your choice of MCN DK or 100% Merino, both in the colorway Maple. Hurry and get yours before they are gone! Set includes a limited edition bee bag by Hikari Handmade, a bee-themed lotion bar made from local to me beeswax and bee themed stitch markers.
It’s a smaller update since we had back-to-back shows: Stitches MidWest and a trunk show at The Studio in KC where we met amazing people! This update also includes some new colorways and bases — BFL/silk in fingering, as well as mohair and more!
I also want to thank everyone for their kind words about my father’s passing last month. I am blessed beyond words to be a part of this caring community.
Perfect for Bee Season! The special edition kits are sold out, but that is no reason to let that bug you — this week’s update includes lots of colors that would bee awesome for your bee themed knits! 😉
I am offering dyed-to-order listings in several colorways, but you are not limited to just these. You may specify which colorway you prefer in the order notes if you don’t find your favorite listed, or you just prefer a non-honey colored option!
Bases offered for the BeeKeeper Cardigan by Olive Knits are:
Super 8 DK (8ply 100% Superwash Merino)
SheepyKid MCN DK (80% Superwash Merino/10% Cashmere/10% nylon)

May has brought fun changes for BigFootFibers! We have an updated website, with a cleaner look and a bit sleeker feel, and we definitely needed it! Growth is hard but is a wonderful thing!
This week’s update, going up Friday at 6 p.m. Central, is a “spring cleaning” update, where we are cleaning out those shelves and getting ready for new things! All Indie Untangled subscribers can use code “IndieSpring10” for 10% off their entire order including Lykke Needles (!) through Monday May 21st at midnight central time. Minis, bulky, SilkyYak DK, worsted, sport and, of course, fingering are all included in this update!
Happy making to all of you wonderful knitters out there! If you have any problems with the new site please don’t hesitate to email me by clicking the Contact button on this post. ~ Sheila
April was a busy month for us at BigFootFibers with back to back shows in Dallas and Kansas City! It was great to make new friends and catch up with old ones! Despite attending two shows in one month the shop updates must go on! This update brings new yarn sets for Zweig, Drachenfels, Mellow Sun, the Impressionist MKAL. Lots of bases included in this update from SuperPhat Bulky (a luxurious 19 micron 100% SW Merino) to SilkyYak on DK to SuperSilkySheep on sock weight, to mini singles! Sweater quantities go fast 🙂
Show season is upon us! I’m having a ton of fun creating new colorways for this spring and upcoming shows! If you’re in the Dallas area come and say hi at the DFWFF the first weekend in April!
I have a limited number of Valentine’s themed minis and self striping left — when they’re gone, they’re gone! And a few new things you will love as much as I do! I am a huge fan of BBC, especially Victoria. I have created the first in a series of Victoria themed colorways that will be coming out this spring. It is called “Gloriana” and is currently on a SW BFL/Nylon blend. There will also be a few shawl kits for the Drachenfels shawl by Melanie Berg. I stumbled upon this gem on Ravelry looking for a sport weight shawl and fell immediately head over heels! Also in this update is some SuperPhat Bulky weight — so many fun, warm, and quick knits to be made!
You may or may not know that BigFootFibers also has a podcast on YouTube- the BigFoot KnitCast. I have teamed up with several other indie dyers and we have collaborated to bring you the Avalanche of Indie Dyed Yarn! This past episode included yarn from Jessie at YarnOver New York, Lorna of Zombie Yarns, Rachel of SilkWorm Studios, Baad Mom Yarns, AnnaLisa of Arctic Krafts, and Kim of GingerSnap! This coming episode will see even more indie dyed yarns to giveaway, plus a bag from Hikari Handmade!
This February, BigFootFibers will be at Loops in Tulsa for the marketplace at the Loops Club retreat, featuring Andrea Mowry, Rosemary “Romi” Hill, Ann Budd, and Carson Demers. I am so excited to get the chance to meet Andrea! If you can’t make the retreat and meet me in person, you can always shop my website. Speaking of the website, I have moved the shopping off of Etsy and onto the BigFootFibers website (finally!).
I will also be at the DFWFF in April and Knitting in the Heartland in KC. Show season is proving to be busy, and growth pains in this little dye studio have prompted me to change the way I do shop updates. I am moving to a more scheduled structure for updates, aiming for two a month on alternating Fridays.
This past update I added some Valentine-themed self-striping sock yarns and this coming update will see some additional mini skein sets. I am hopeful that I can meet many of you this year in person! Yarnie friends are the best!
