Middle Brook Fiberworks, housed in a restored 1800s barn amidst the scenic horse farms and historic estates Bedminster, N.J., is making its debut with the A Plied Yarn Lab, a two-day comprehensive fleece-to-yarn experience.

The two-day workshop, held on May 28 and 29, will include instruction on washing a fleece, preparing locks, and spinning. Along the way, we’ll investigate traditional methods of fleece preparation and spinning, and consider how breed, twist, and ply affect the character of a finished yarn. We’ll then apply our knowledge to explore innovative spinning techniques. We’ll card art batts that incorporate non-traditional elements such as locks, sparkle, various silks and exotic fibers, to craft art yarn with puffs, tails, beehives, and coils.

Laura Spinner, of Rainbow Twist Fibers, will make her first East Coast engagement at A Plied Yarn. On Sunday, Laura will be joined by Ginny Tullock, of Fat Cat Knits, for an exciting day of creative yarn artistry.

All materials, lunch and refreshments, along with a Middle Brook Fiberworks gift tote with fiber samples and other treats, will be included in the $350 cost. Click here for more details.

It’s time for the next Quarterly Yarn Club installment!

This Quarter’s theme is celebrating Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. Sign-ups are now open for every Man, Woman, Child, Witch, Wizard, Troll, Gnome, Dryad, Centaur… well, you get the idea. Sign-ups are open to everyone! So head over here and sign up now. Don’t forget that sign-ups close earlier this month, on 16th of May, so don’t miss out!

Remember, the Quarterly club box is a mystery box, with teasers revealed throughout the month of sign-ups via Instagram, Facebook and the Ravelry group.

Though to give you some idea, last quarter’s club was Firefly themed and inspiration came from the Ship and the Crew. With the exclusive club skein inspired by Serenity, in all its slightly battered glory, and the mini skein set representing Captain Tightpants – Malcolm Reynolds, Companion – Inara Serra, Reader – River, and Pilot – Good old Hoban Washbourne. The extras in this quarter will get a shakeup to be more themed related, but in last quarter you can see the themed stitch markers, notions pouch and Crewmember-covered buttons.

In other Third Vault news, our latest pattern has now been released. The Noughts and Crosses Cowl is now available on Ravelry and in the Etsy store as a yarn kit. The pattern plays with the juxtaposition of cables and lace, creating a harmonious balance between the two that makes it the perfect spring cowl, or the ideal cover-up for summer evenings.

May is approaching, and that means the deadline to sign up for the Swoonish fiber club is looming as well. Claim your spot for a chance to be part of a surprise club, where the fiber content and colorway is unknown until you open the box. The fiber will always be high quality, ~4 ounces (unless additional spots are purchased), and dyed to wow. See a glimpse of previous months revealed by either visiting the May club listing in the shop, or reading the blog. Sign-ups end May 1st, with club packages due to be sent out mid to late May.

Not ready for a fiber club? Both spinning fiber and yarn are available in the shop for immediate purchase and shipping.

Wild Hair Studio is a small family farm raising Purebred Romeldale/CVM sheep, Registered Gotland sheep and crossbred sheep. Our fiber studio began and continues as an extension of the farm. The fiber studio allows us to pursue our creative fiber artist interest and offer batts, smidgens, art batts, and other fiber goodies which feature the fiber from our farm. We focus on creating batts, smidgens, and other fiber goodies which handle and spins wonderfully.

The enrollment period for Yarnageddon 2016, our yarn, fiber, and gift club, ends this Friday. We love to spoil club members — spots are still available! This year, we are celebrating the 5th anniversary of our yarnclub with a contest: every order placed in our store through Friday, 1/15, at midnight Pacific time counts as an entry into a drawing, where one lucky winner of a Yarnageddon membership will be chosen. We’re very excited to offer a coveted, year-long membership as a thank you to our customers for their support. Best of luck!

I’ve been reviving the art of shepherding for over 20 years. The abundance of wool I harvest each Spring has inspired a variety of yarns. I hand process the fiber and handspin it into one of a kind yarns for knitting and weaving. I also send wool out to be custom spun into a variety of yarns, from laceweight to bulky singles. All the wool yarns is natural and undyed and available to purchase for your creative dyeing projects.

I also have LONGWOOL LOCKS from my English Leicester sheep available. They are all washed and natural and undyed, and I have SPINNING & FELTING FIBER for your creative endeavors.

I hope to have time to explore more dyeing of my fiber in the future. But for now, it’s all yours to play with.

I’m proud to say my wool is ALL AMERICAN GROWN !

It’s officially Fall and Indie Untangled is exactly a week away!

Mayan Puzzle is an updated version of the Aztec Mazes Pullover that Anne Hanson designed. It’s shown here in Bare Naked Wools Ghillie Sport/DK in Cream. Ghillie is a 100% Cheviot Wool Artisan Sock Yarn. This yarn is the perfect choice for any sweater or gansey. It’s light, airy, and hard-wearing. It offers a 3-ply construction which is going to give you excellent stitch definition.

Bare Naked Wools Confection Sport will wear like iron too. Confection is our 100% Corriedale Wool; it is an equally impressive natural wool choice that can also be used in this stunning long-lasting garment.

Mayan Puzzle is characterized by its texture. It’s strong and defined. Not only is it fun to work but it makes for a great show-stopping piece. It’s a garment that looks hard, but in actuality, is technically simple. Not only that, it looks great on both men and women! When you come to our booth be sure to ask about Mayan Puzzle and many of the other sweaters that we will have on display! Come see us and be inspired!

We’re back from a truly energizing weekend at the Georgia FiberFest and I’m all about making a few much needed changes around here. The first change — and it’s been a big one, not to mention a bit time consuming — is the new look of the online shop. The new set-up should make it easier to shop — just click on the individual listing instead of working with a drop-down box and trying make sure that you are actually ordering the colorway you want. The side bar scrolls up and down, now, too, so I you can click the link to go directly to your favorite yarn. It’s neater, faster, and brighter!

You will notice, though, that some of the yarn labels are “missing.” I’ve decided that it’s time to retire a few labels, what with changing suppliers and adding new yarn lines this year, and the wonderful shoppers at the Georgia FiberFest were more than happy to help me close out that stock. Belle Luxe, Cielo DK, Flock 195, Flock 225, and Flock 335 have all gone away.

Now it’s time to look to autumn for jewel-toned yarns and a darker color palette. I’m looking for natural, earthy tones for my autumn colorways and these can be found in the Journey, Rocket Sock, Rocket Sock Medium, and our newest line, Single Sheep. Single Sheep is our version of the fingering weight single (think Tosh Merino Light) and Blanche, Stella, and Oliver have been gracious enough to give us the fleece off of their backs to make it. Because it’s our first yarn run ever with fleece grown right here at Cedar Hill Farm, quantities are limited. In other words, if you place an order you will want to order exactly what you will need the first time. We also have new colorways of spinning fiber and a bunch of new project bags with grommets.

So stop by the online shop to check out the new yarns and colorways. As always, we also do custom orders and wholesale to LYS and you can contact me through the online shop or by email if you are interested in ordering.

Here at Blissful Knits we love bright, bold color and yummy squishy yarn.

Our new website features our hand dyed yarns and fibers as well as ongoing monthly club subscriptions. Come and check them out!

This fall, we are featuring our latest luxury base in fingering weight, a decadent blend of silk, Merino and yak. This exceptional base is imported from Italy, so you know you’re getting a high-end and high-quality product.

We are also offering a 15% off coupon code this week only for Indie Untangled subscribers — IU15.
