Hello fellow fiber crafters!

We all know and love the bright colors that can be achieved by dyeing white fibers. However, sheep (and other fiber animals) come in a variety colors! And if you follow me at all, you know that I love to work with non-white fleeces!

So in today’s post I will be celebrating some of my products (both handspun yarn and fibers) that use non-white fleeces!

The two group pictures of multiple colorways actually used two different fleeces: the darker one is from a mostly black/dark gray Romeldale/CVM fleece, while the more colorful one is from a light brown Romney fleece.

As always I washed, picked, carded, dyed and spun everything myself and I just love how the natural color of the wool enhances the dye. It is just so much fun to work with!

And sometimes I don’t even dye the wool at all and just let the natural color be the star of the show!

So if you want to check out my yarns and fibers, make sure to visit my website!

And while you are there:
At the top right corner you will find a button to become a fiber pack member (= a subscriber to my newsletter).
Being a fiber pack member comes with some great advantages: not only will you get notified about shop updates and get fiber craft related links to fun patterns and articles, you will also receive monthly discount codes!
And the September one is a huge 20% off!

So become a fiber pack member, snatch that discount and then shop to your heart’s content!

As always, enjoy your crafts,
Nat

Hi!

If you have been curious about trying out my yarns and fibers, but want to spend as little money as possible on your first buy (don’t we all 😉 ), I might have the solution for you:

This weekend (Friday July 2nd to Sunday July 4th) there will be a big Independence Day Sale!

All you need to do is shop on my website and you’ll automatically receive these discounts on checkout:
orders over $100 will get 20% off
orders over $50 will get 15% off
all other orders will get 10% off

In case you don’t know me yet:
Hi, I’m Nat and I create spinning fibers and yarn from the raw fleece.
This means I buy raw fleeces that I then wash, pick, card, dye and spin for you.
My loyal mascot and canine supervisor Fiberdog Hestia is the inspiration for the company name and is there for all the steps of my creation process (and quite often appears on my social media). Unfortunately this also means that I do not recommend buying from me if you are allergic to dogs.

Shipping in the U.S. is free, as always.

However, if you are outside the U.S. and would like to order, please contact me through email, so we can figure out how to make that possible for you.

I hope to see you on my website soon and as always: enjoy your crafts!

There are only a few more days until the Tour de Fleece starts. In case you haven’t heard of it before: it is a worldwide (online) event for spinners to challenge themselves and cheer each other on. It happens every year during the time of the famous Tour de France.

As I am an enthusiastic spinner myself, I have washed, picked, carded and dyed up a storm for you and added some more fibers to my shop. They are all ready to ship, with free shipping in the U.S., and I will in fact add more in the next few days (some batches are still drying as I am writing this).

So check out my shop and get all the fiber for your Tour de Fleece!

And if you are not a spinner:
I also have handspun yarn, like “Green Spring” that you can see in one of the pictures above.

And if you are really adventurous: why not learn to spin? I also offer beginner’s kits with written and video instructions and should you ever have any questions, you can always contact me.

Enjoy!

(Rain date Sunday, June 6, 2021)

They are finally here! My first mini set, “Rainbow Stars,” is now finally available in my shop.

Each set includes seven 20g minis, one for each color of the rainbow.

As always I created these from the raw fleece: I washed, picked, carded, dyed and spun all of the minis myself. They are 100% wool (Romney).

The knit fabric reminds me of countless rainbow-colored stars in a dark night sky, hence the name.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, and as always: enjoy your crafts!

The last few weeks of the year are often stressful and very busy. You work hard to stay sane and keep everything in order and make sure everyone has a good time.

So why not treat yourself or a loved fiber enthusiast to something special these days?

For this I have created Winter Gift.

It is a surprise colorway, available both as fiber braid and handspun yarn. The drawing you see with this post is the color inspiration. As always this is handprocessed by me personally: I washed, picked, carded, dyed (and spun) every single one myself.
it is a 60% wool and 40% rayon (from bamboo) blend. The sheep who provided this wool is named Billie and is a BFL-Wensleydale-mix. I have yet to meet him in person, but the farm is local to me.

Winter Gift comes already wrapped as a gift. You simply open the shipping package and are ready to gift! Place this little treat for yourself under the tree, on the family gift pile, or just hand it to another crafty person without any effort!

However, supplies are limited, so make sure to head over to Fiberdog Fibers soon!

Happy Halloween!

October is nearing its end and with that comes one of my most favorite days of the year: Halloween!

This year I designed a new colorway just for this special day: “Beyond the Veil.”
It is available as both yarn and fiber.

They are both 100% wool (Corriedale cross) and in fact come from the same fleece. I washed, picked, carded, dizzed, dyed and spun it all personally, as always supervised by my shop mascot and canine supervisor Fiberdog Hestia. The fiber braids are 50g, the yarn 100g each.

In addition to this I also added a dyed-to-order service for fiber braids.

If you are curious about my process of creating yarn, I have created a blog post about it:

Have a spooky Halloween!

September 28th is coming up and guess what? It is my wedding anniversary!

I like to spread the joy I feel in my life and crafts so on that day only EVERYTHING in my store will be 20% off! You won’t need any code, the discount should be applied automatically at checkout. Of course if there are any issues, please contact me so I can solve your problem as quickly as possible.

Also, I have restocked “Hot Summer”!
It is available both as yarn and fiber and, like all of my products, is hand-dyed and handspun.

Finally, I’d like to introduce my Ravelry group to you, the Fiberdog Fibers Ravelry Fiber Pack. The goal of this group is to create a community where fiber crazy people like you and me can meet and share our joy. Share projects, help each other when we are stuck somewhere, just generally support each other. I will share updates to the shop there, but you don’t have to be a customer to be part of that group (though I would certainly appreciate it 😉 )

I’m looking forward to sharing my fiber passion with you!

It is time for a big sale!

I need to make room for new yarns and so I have put a lot of my unique yarns on sale. They are 25% off and you don’t even need to remember a code! For your convenience I have decided to show the discounted prices directly.

All of the yarns on sale are already wound into a cake and ready to use, however, I can re-skein them for you. Just send me a quick message, if you want to use this free service.

You can find all the yarns on sale directly on the first page of the store, but of course you are very welcome to have a look around. Should you have any questions or issues, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will do my very best to help you!

All of my yarns (and fibers) have been made from the raw fleece: I washed, carded, dyed and spun them all myself.

I hope to hear from you soon and as always, enjoy your crafts!

Hello, fellow crafters! I’m Natalie, the owner of Fiberdog Fibers and I write this to introduce my business to you.

Fiberdog Fibers, based on the east coast of the US, started earlier this year and I sell handdyed fibers as well as handdyed and handspun yarn. I almost exclusively work from raw fleeces that I wash, card, dye and spin myself.

My goal is to spark a little joy in you when you work with my products. Personally I love working with fibers — I spin, knit, crochet and weave — and my fiber crafts have helped me through a very difficult time in my life (major depression and anxiety, with hospitalization and everything). So now that I am feeling better, I aim to provide fibers and yarn that others love to use as much as I loved making them. Our fiber crafts can be a great way to express and even heal ourselves and if I can even play just a tiny role in helping you do that, it absolutely warms my heart.

Another important aspect of Fiberdog Fibers is my mascot and canine supervisor, Fiberdog Hestia. She is a German Shepherd and is there for every part of my “production,” always following me, making sure I do everything right. She also makes sure I take breaks by removing the drive bands from my spinning wheel. If you follow me on Instagram, you will see her now and then.

Some of my colorways are inspired by nature, but most of them are the result of what makes me feel good in the moment. Like I said earlier, I want the fibers and yarn to spark joy and so I go with my gut when dyeing them. I am also very open to letting you inspire me. Have a favorite color/picture and would like to see it in yarn or fiber? Let me know! Maybe your feelings will inspire me and end up in the dyepot. In fact, both the blue and the pink batt on one of the pictures here are inspired by one person.

All that said, I do work on creating more repeatable colorways, so you can also get larger quantities. When in doubt, just ask me about a colorway.

In general, I want you to interact with me! Send me emails, messages, whatever you like to ask questions or just to share a project. I love seeing what you make! Let us inspire and support each other, especially now with the world being a little crazy.

Enjoy your crafts and if you find the time, have a look around at my website!
