Hi there! I am so excited to finally be a part of Indie Untangled. I don’t know what took me so long to get here, but, here I am! I am Suzanne, and dyeing is my absolute passion, and ultimate dream, and I can only hope that shows in my work. I take ultimate pride and care with every single piece I create. I am a hippie at heart, so I adore bright, bold, “groovy” colors, but I also embrace my earthy side from time to time. My goal is to bring you soft, squishy, luxurious yarn and fiber with saturated color combinations, both oddball and tried-and-true for whatever fiber art you enjoy!

If there is something you do not see in my shop that you would love to have me create, I heartily welcome custom dye jobs with open arms! There is nothing I enjoy more than a good challenge. I will match a photo, a theme, even a random sentence from a book — and I will not be satisfied until you are with the final product!

Most of my spinning fiber is “one-of-a-kind.” It’s really where I let loose and free myself from the structure of formulaic colorways I have created on most of my yarns. If, however, there is a braid you see that you would like more than 4 ounces of, I am happy to create as much as you’d like with the same sort of color combination. Just let me know, and I’ll set out to create the fiber of your dreams.

Yes, I really am this cheerful and easy-going. With me, whatcha see is whatcha get!

I’ve been reviving the art of shepherding for over 20 years. The abundance of wool I harvest each Spring has inspired a variety of yarns. I hand process the fiber and handspin it into one of a kind yarns for knitting and weaving. I also send wool out to be custom spun into a variety of yarns, from laceweight to bulky singles. All the wool yarns is natural and undyed and available to purchase for your creative dyeing projects.

I also have LONGWOOL LOCKS from my English Leicester sheep available. They are all washed and natural and undyed, and I have SPINNING & FELTING FIBER for your creative endeavors.

I hope to have time to explore more dyeing of my fiber in the future. But for now, it’s all yours to play with.

I’m proud to say my wool is ALL AMERICAN GROWN !

It’s probably about time that I started carrying spinning fiber in the shop, and what better time to make it available than during the week of the Tour de Fleece? So, here it is, the first of much fiber that will be added to the shop. I am starting with 100% superwash merino top, hand painted in a variety of colors that are sure to make you want to do nothing all day but sit and spin! Two “sizes” are available: 3.8 oz (108 g) and 4 oz (113 g).

As with our yarns, all of our dyed fibers are done with an eco-friendly acid dye that is well-fixed to avoid bleeding, fading, and dye transfer to your hands while spinning. This merino top is perfect for beginning spinners who want to move away from spinning long wools to something soft and next-to-the-skin wearable. I like the superwash merino top for spinning sock yarn, myself. The 3.8 oz that is currently stocked is dyed for long color repeats, which makes it a really fine choice for spinning self-striping fingering weight yarn.

Also being added over the course of the next week will be undyed, all-natural luxury batts of alpaca and llama blends in a variety of weights. These drum carded batts were worked up here at the farm, but the fiber comes from some of the best alpaca and llama breeders in Georgia, Florida, and Virginia. Fine micron, top quality. So be on the lookout for those!

The wonderful colors in Sound of Music being set most of the time outdoors with the bright greens and blues brought about this lovely skein of yarn.

Shades of blue and green interspersed with white to remind you of the clouds, grass and sky.

75% SW Merino wool, 25% nylon in 463yd skeins.

This is a repeatable colorway so if you would like more than 1 skein and have it as a same dye lot let me know and I will be happy to dye it up.

Alrighty folks, we’ve got a lot to celebrate and we want to share it with you. First and foremost, Squoosh has turned eight and that is so exciting! Plus, we’re moving and couldn’t be happier than that. And it’s almost summer! Warm weather ahead. Yes!

To celebrate, the entire shop is on sale through the beginning of June. Find great deals on hand-dyed fibers, yarns, rolags, batts and handspun. Even more, to help lighten the load for the movers, all Made to Orders are 10% off until the 28th. It’s the perfect time to nab that color you’ve always wanted but never got your hands on. But don’t delay, quantities are limited.

Having a year-long theme is quite interesting. For February I chose My Fair Lady. The colors go from grey to burgundy, white with black, pink and end in red. This is the transition of Eliza Doolittle, who went from street urchin to lady. This is a self-striping yarn in my “Blessed Fingers” base of 100% SW BFL.
I hope you’ll check it out and the other new yarns in shop as well.
