Six carefully-curated, themed boxes for 2022.

The first three months of the year have been racing by, and today it was finally 56 degrees in the frozen tundra of Minnesota! While I’ve lived here long enough to know that we may still get dumped on with snow a couple more times, the sunshine and birds chirping today helped to remind me that spring is REALLY on its way!

Our Summer Knitting box is nearly sold out, so if you want to grab 24 stunning mini skeins, along with some really fun full-size gifts, head on over and grab yours before they’re gone! We are offering two different bases, both our Basic 75/25 Merino Nylon Sock and our MCN sock, which features some truly squishy Merino Cashmere (and is my personal favorite!).

Several new colorways have been released in the last couple weeks, including several from the start of our Outlander Subscription box. We don’t release these skeins until a full six months has passed from when they were originally released, and when they’re gone, they’re gone! While they don’t come with the fun Outlander-themed gifts, you can always grab our most recent month’s Outlander Box as a single purchase, or sign up for either a three- or six-month subscription. For those Outlander fans who are eagerly anticipating each weeks episode of Season 6, I can promise you that this month’s box will be a lot of fun!

Our Game of Thrones-themed line has just been released as well, with the first three of nine planned colorways having just hit the shop. Grab a skein of our stunning “Mother of Dragons” or take a stab at knitting something fun with “And Now His Watch is Ended.” Both are available on both our Basic Sock as well as our MCN Sock.

Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram for discounts, giveaways and shop updates, and if you’re a TikTok fan, get ready, because we are about to take a deep breath and dive into the TikTok world! Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes at Cashmere & Coconuts? Stay tuned, because we have a lot of fun stuff planned for you! Follow us on TikTok @cashmereandcoconuts

P.S. Save 10% in our shop this week with discount code: March10 (some exclusions apply) and save 20% on all our solid color Peruvian Highland wool!

Peace & Love to you all!

Cashmere & Coconuts

If you remember back to January, you may remember my “Andy Warhol Yarn Club.” After the success of the first two months, I have decided to start opening up preorders for the monthly colorways to the general public, for those who just cannot commit to a whole year.

For March, I am highlighting the famous Campbell’s soup can from 1962. This skein features a section of red, a section of gold and a section of white. (Final skeins will NOT have the red bleed as badly as here – I have figured out how to avoid it for the future). Preorders DO NOT include the monthly goodies, just the yarn and an art fact card.

Select your base below from my usual options – Light, Sock, DK and Sport. All skeins will be dyed and shipped by the last week of March.

Interested in the whole club with all the goodies? Hit the subscribe button on my website to join in the fun! You can subscribe at any time during the year and cancel at any time also. Subscriptions are $40 +tax a month.

Welcome to Silly Goose Yarns! I’m so excited because we just launched this week! We are a small, woman-run business specializing in hand-dyed yarns. You can find a variety of bases on our site – mohair, fingering, DK, worsted and bulky – in our Spring Collection! We have Punchberry (pink with purple speckles) River Rocks (shades of grey and brown), Waves (mint to turquoise with specks of brown), Birthday Cake (pink, yellow, blue and purple) and Sunny Days (a saturated yellow tonal) as well as two mini skein sets in lights and brights. We also have an OOAK collection of limited items, with yarns in various shades and bases.

We also carry hand lotion from Savannah Bee Co.!

I’m the head dyer, owner, marketer, finance person, etc. When I’m not dyeing, I’m knitting, playing with my dog or drinking wine. I’m also an obsessive comma and exclamation point user! Looking forward to seeing you in the shop!

I don’t know about everyone else, but as soon as March hits I am ALL about color in my life. I’m tired of winter drab grays and browns, it’s time for a color explosion!

Introducing our new Summer Lovin’ Collection! A trio of color that promises to chase away all your winter blues!

The Summer Lovin’ collection can be purchased as a set or individually and is available across multiple bases.

If you love color, but are looking for something a little more subtle, we have ten new color ways that were released in our shop this week, across multiple bases — rest assured there is something for everyone!

We still have a few openings left for our Summer Knitting Box, which is inspired by geodes and gemstones, and is definitely a box you won’t want to miss! Modeled on our Christmas advent box, our Summer Knitting Kit comes with 24 mini skeins in either our Basic Sock or MCN Sock bases, as well as a coordinating full size 100g skein, and several small goodies! We’ve put a LOT of effort into these boxes and I can promise you, you won’t want to miss them! When they’re gone, they’re gone, so grab them while you can!

Lastly, we currently have a sale across much of our shop, which runs from 3/1 to 3/31 — save 10% off! Woohoo!!

Hello everyone!

Cashmere & Coconuts is thrilled to announce we have just released several new and exciting products!

After the incredible success of our Holiday Advent Set, based on the Great British Baking Show, we have put together our very first Summer Knitting Box! Just like our Advent set, our Summer Box comes with 24 20g mini skeins, one full size 100g skein, each based on our summer theme of geodes, crystals and agates, as well as 1-2 small themed gifts. Each skein is on our 75/25 Sock base, which is an incredibly soft and yet durable Merino/nylon base. You also have the option to upgrade your box to either our MCN Sock base, or if you really want to capture that sparkle found in so many geodes and crystals, our Sparkle Sock base! No matter which base you choose, we promise you won’t be disappointed!

We also have launched our brand new Monthly Fiber Box, which will be based on a different theme each month. Orders are accepted until the 10th of each month, or until all spots are filled. Space is very limited, so make sure to grab your Fiber Box while you can!

We are pleased to announce that we have launched two new shawl kits, with patterns by the incredibly talented Ambah O’Brian! Her Lilli Pilli shawl is a particular favorite of ours, and you can choose between a variety of color ways to customize your perfect shawl!

Last, but certainly not least, our widely popular Outlander Sock Box is restarting again! For those who love the beauty of Scotland, Jamie Fraser’s accent (and kilt! Ahem!) and love to watch as Claire gets herself into one scrap after another, this box is for you! Each month you’ll receive one full size 100g skein, two coordinating mini skeins, and several small goodies that any Outlander fan would love to have! (Skeins shown in photo are examples of previous Outlander boxes, however this is a Mystery Box). All Outlander skeins stay exclusive to our Outlander Sock Box for a minimum of six months and will not be released before then.

One more nugget of awesomeness for you all! Cashmere & Coconuts is offering an exclusive discount only for Indie Untanged members! Use discount code INDIEUNTANGLED14 to save 14% off your orders from now until Valentines Day!

More to come next week!

The Yarnover Truck’s Super Nerdy Yarn Club featuring Forbidden Fiber Co. has hit the halfway point in Year 4 and is now open again for new members to join! This club is a deep dive into some of our favorite fandoms through beautiful hand-dyed yarns creating beautiful colors to represent six STRONG and POWERFUL FEMALE CHARACTERS. Creation is all about passion. And if you are in love with colours, then you probably love cooking as much as you love knitting!

And if there is one name that flies out if you mention cooking and colours together it is for sure Yotam Ottolenghi.

It is therefore quite naturally that we wanted to pay tribute to his cuisine, his flavours, his colours by creating a series of boxes inspired by his books.

Let us present you our special sock knitting boxes Le Tre Stagioni di Ottolenghi (The Three Seasons of Ottolenghi).

It is a Yarn&Bag club: a series of three surprise boxes rich in colours and flavours in homage to the wonderful Middle Eastern cuisine.

Each box will have:

– 1 skein of Foot Lane from Penny Lane Yarns dyed exclusively for this occasion by Deborah in Zürich, Switzerland, 75% merino / 25% polyamide, 100 g / 425m – 465 yd
– 1 sock pattern created by Sara (with code for download, available in English, French and Italian)
– 1 project bag exclusively created, dyed and/or printed by Sara from La Cave à Laine
– Surprises!

You can choose to buy one, two or the three boxes altogether and receive them throughout 2022:
– Box 1 March 2022
– Box 2 August 2022
– Box 3 October 2022

There is a limited number of boxes, so be quick!

Almost 16 years ago, my grandmother went into hospice care in Arizona. I had just had my second child and traveled with my newborn to go spend whatever time I could with my grandmother before she passed away. It was a very special time in my life, on so many levels — my dad was there with me, and he and I didn’t usually get a lot of one-on-one time together typically. While much of our days were spent in the hospice care center with my grandmother, the time I was able to spend with my dad was equally as precious to me and is something that I will forever be grateful for.

If anyone has ever sat through a loved one’s passing, you know that it can be a difficult wait, full of many conflicting emotions and feelings. We don’t want them to go, we don’t want them to stay in pain, we aren’t ready for them to leave, we want them to be at peace. It was during this time that my dad’s aunt decided to try teach me to crochet. I say “try” because wow, I was NOT good at it! But I bumbled my way through and within a few weeks (ok maybe months) I had finally made my first scarf.

As the years passed, I made various scarves and hats, never absolutely loving crochet, but having that deep and overwhelming urge to “create” that I just could not find a way to satisfy and like so many others, when COVID forced everyone into their homes and cut us all off from family, friends and loved ones, I decided that it was time to teach myself to knit.

It was as if the heavens opened up in front of me.

I LOVED IT.

“Now, how do I make socks,” I wondered… and I found my way to Ravelry where I searched, purchased, and saved hundreds of stunningly beautiful sock patterns that were FAR beyond my skill level. I lovingly bought the most beautiful skeins of hand-painted sock yarn, learned all the terminology, started to build my “stash,” all before I ever even attempted to cast on the first pair of socks.

In all honesty, I was terrified to try to knit socks. I am almost embarrassed now to admit that it took me almost six months after I learned to knit to do anything more than dream about that first K1P1 cuff. The very first pair I finally cast on was following along with one of the Crazy Sock Lady’s vanilla sock patterns, and let me tell you, if you’re ever on the fence about learning to knit a pair of socks, pick up one of her patterns. They are well explained, easy to understand, and best of all, she gives you video tutorials of all the different areas you could possibly go wrong with.

Within a very, very short period of time, I realized that this wasn’t just a hobby for me, it had become a passion — and a rather expensive passion I might add. Rather than risk my marriage, I decided that I should try to dye some of my own sock yarn, and it was then that I realized I was really in trouble! Who would have thought that dyeing sock yarn would satisfy that need to create even more than knitting would?!? My husband rolled his eyes, lovingly gave up our dining room to become my crafting room, and Cashmere and Coconuts was born into existence.

You may wonder, why Cashmere and Coconuts? The Cashmere part is a bit more obvious, but the Coconuts has meaning for me as well. When you think about a coconut, the outside is amazingly hard and difficult to get past. You can hammer at it, bash it with a rock, and it takes a good amount of time chipping away at the outside of a coconut to make any sort of headway. For me, life has been a bit like a coconut… and my journey into the world of knitting, dyeing and fiber arts in general has been especially so. I chipped away at that hard outside of the coconut, learning, making errors, probably going about things in ways much more difficult than they really needed to be. Eventually though, we get to the inside of the coconut, and we discover something magical. Thus, Cashmere and Coconuts was born.

When I think back on those early days of learning to crochet, all those years ago, and where I am today, I am very thankful that I kept bashing away at the outside of that coconut. I hope that my story inspires you in some way, that you find that perfect skein of yarn, an amazingly beautiful pattern, a cloudy fluff of wool — it can be anything! — and you start chipping away at your own coconut. Learn something new! Try a new technique! And discover the joy that comes from persistence, hard work, and most of all, Cashmere and Coconuts.
