What to stash this week: The Indie Project
Sam of Lavender Lune Yarn Co. has created the ultimate low-comittment indie yarn club with what she has dubbed The Indie Project. Each month, she teams up with another dyer and each of them take a stab at creating one-of-a-kind colorways based on a common inspiration photo. For April, Sam is working with Nicole of Hue Loco to create a set of yarn inspired by the photo above that can be used for a summer top designed by Olga from Handmade Closet….

What to stash this week: mini mani-yak
Stephania of Three Fates Yarn takes a different, less speckled path than other indie dyers, and her semisolids and gradients are perfect for colorwork projects that require the colors to stand out from one another. Enter her Helios mini skeins. Comprised of 60% Superwash Merino, 20% yak and 20% silk, they are a great match for items that require a bit of luxurious warmth with next-to-the-skin softness. Stephania has moved from Etsy to a new home on a new website,…

What to stash this week: Buy yarn, help with hurricane relief
Carrie of Alpenglow Yarn, who moved to St. John full time with her mom when she was 3 or 4 years old (her parents had honeymooned there, fell in love and built a home) was 12 when Hurricane Hugo devastate the island. While Carrie recalls the island’s 3,000 residents coming together and helping each other out in the wake of Hugo, with much of the island back to normal in six months,…

What to stash this week: A knitting bag to dye for
Sue, the awesome mom of Asylum Fibers’ Stephanie, has sewn up limited edition project bags to celebrate the company’s six month-iversary. The bags are made with fabric in a blood splatter print by Robert Kaufman, reminiscent of the Asylum Fibers logo, which is displayed on the inside pocket. The bags include a unique feature that I haven’t seen on any other project bag for sale — a metal bar encased along the edge of the zipper,…

Celebrating three years of Indie
I’m sure you agree with me that time flies when you’re knitting. I can be doing the most mundane thing, including inching across the Manhattan Bridge on the Q train and, if I’m working on my latest WIP, I can almost (almost) forget the nonexistent “train traffic.”
Time has also flown for Indie Untangled, which officially launched three years ago, on April 4, 2014. Since then, I’ve sent out 157 weekly newsletters,…
What to stash this week: Mad for yarn
Get ready — tonight, at 10 p.m. Eastern, is the launch of Asylum Fibers. Stephanie, who organizes one of my knitting groups here in NYC, hand dyes semisolid, variegated, speckled self-striping and ombre colorways. Some will be non-repeatable “Chaos Colorways,” while there will also be zany regulars, with names like Bad Bad Girl, Hydrotherapy, Moody, and The Shower Scene.
What to stash this week: Knit the force
Many of us are still reeling from one of the last losses of 2016. Laura of Slipped Stitch Studios has decided to honor our favorites princess with her Bag of the Month, a collection of accessories that goes on sale today at 9 a.m. Pacific time.
Continuing the Star Wars tribute, Julia of Pandia’s Jewels has a batch of Star Wars-inspired items,…
