Indie Untangled Where We Knit Yarn Club — 2020

A collage with winter flowers, cherry blossoms, a blue put over a campfire and the Manhattan Bridge.

The fifth year of the Indie Untangled Where We Knit yarn club brings together four new indie dyer and designer teams from around the world. Each pair will create a colorway and an accompanying accessory pattern, drawing inspiration from various places where they whip out their works in progress. The club will start in February 2020. Every three months, you will receive one skein of hand-dyed yarn in an exclusive colorway, a PDF pattern that will be exclusive for three months and a special gift based on the theme of each installment.

Here are the teams for 2020 (each of their inspiration photos are shown in the image above, clockwise starting from the top left):

February
Wobble Gobble Yarn and Veera Välimäki

Frozen Magic: Jiayi, who hails from Upstate New York, and Veera, who is based in Southern Finland, are inspired by knitting in winter, when the world is visited by snowflakes and glittering branches, making our everyday surroundings look like magic.

May
bleu poussière and Paula Pereira

Nature Blooms: Shani, a natural dyer out of Quebec, Canada, and Paula, who lives in São Paulo, Brazil, will welcome spring by looking to one of its well-known floral signs.

August
Earl Grey Fiber Co. and Vanessa Smith

Campfire Yarn Tales: These two Pacific Northwesterners, both from Washington State, will capture the mood of end-of-summer evenings, which involve spending time outdoors in the company of good friends and family, often around a campfire — while knitting, of course.

November
Indie Untangled X The Wandering Flock and Geraldine Yang

Wandering Brooklyn: I will be creating a true Indie Untangled exclusive in collaboration with the new indie-dyed yarn company that Geraldine launched from her Brooklyn studio in late 2019. We will take inspiration for the colorway and design from this iconic image of our borough’s DUMBO neighborhood, with the Manhattan Bridge in the background.
