What to stash this week: Birthday year

I’m closing it out with the 10th and final colorway from Mary of 29 Bridges Studio. Based in Maryland (the company name is inspired by Mary’s hometown of Pittsburgh, the city of bridges), Mary has been a regular Indie Untangled vendor since the all-virtual show in 2020 and she and her husband Mike have been friendly faces in person at the October pre-Rhinebeck show since 2021.
Mary’s floral-inspired colorway, Damascena will be dyed on a non-Superwash Merino Sock and an organic non-Superwash DK….
What to stash this week: Sheep and the city

Several months ago, at h+h americas, I learned that the Spanish mill WoolDreamers had created yarn from the Guirra sheep, a breed native to the Valencian Community, on the east side of the Iberian Peninsula. The natural yarn is a cream color with a reddish hue. It was beautiful on its own, but I couldn’t help but wonder how it would look dyed, so I asked Debbie of Murky Depths Dyeworks if she wanted to take a crack at it….

What to stash this week: Winter lights

Here are some northern lights you don’t have to chase: Robyn of TeenyButton Studio has based this month’s Indie Untangled Knitting Our National Parks colorway on a photo of this glowing phenomenon over Denali National Park in Alaska (which definitely doesn’t have the light pollution of NYC!). Denali Borealis is available to preorder on two bases, Soft Sock, a 75/25 Merino/nylon blend and Soft DK, with 100% fine Superwash Merino.
Debbie of Murky Depths Dyeworks has restocked the custom-milled 2-ply Cormo sportweight yarnthat she debuted at Indie Untangled in October….

What to stash this week: Yarn joy

I first started working with Terri of AT Haynes House Yarns in 2020, when we were in the throes of the pandemic and connecting through virtual shows. Terri and her husband Brian brought much-needed joy during those those marathon Zooms. When we started gathering in person again, the AT Haynes House booth was always a party, filled with dancing, laughter, infectious smiles and, of course, gorgeous hand-dyed yarn.
Terri is once again providing some joy with this month’s Indie Untangled anniversary colorway….
What to stash this week: A woolly flame

Earlier this year, I had an incredible opportunity to collaborate with Clara Parkes, the New York Times-bestselling author (Knitlandia, Vanishing Fleece) and self-proclaimed “yarn whisperer” and “wool ambassador.” Robin of Birch Hollow Fibers and I met up with Clara in the Berkshires where she unloaded hundreds of skeins from a rented van.
The result of this collaboration debuted this month through the bi-monthly Heritage Wool Collective Hand-dyed Yarn subscription….

What to stash this week: Indie-ana Dunes

Back in 2022, my husband and adventure buddy Mitch and I embarked on an epic cross-country road trip. One of our first stops was Indiana Dunes National Park. This is one of the country’s newest national parks — it had been a “national lakeshore” since 1966 and then was re-designated as the 61st U.S. national park in 2019. We visited on a day when temperatures climbed into the 90s, but still enjoyed a challenging hike through the dunes,…
