What to stash this week: Indie-ana Dunes

A stunning landscape of the Indiana Dunes during sunset, with a vibrant, fiery red and orange sky meeting the dark, moody clouds. The waves of the lake are turbulent, crashing against the grassy shoreline, capturing the wild beauty of the scene. A close-up image of skeins in a soft, variegated color palette, including shades of cream, teal, mustard, gray, and hints of pink. A set of mini skeins arranged in a gradient of pastel colors, ranging from soft pinks, greens, blues, to yellows.

Back in 2022, my husband and adventure buddy Mitch and I embarked on an epic cross-country road trip. One of our first stops was Indiana Dunes National Park. This is one of the country’s newest national parks — it had been a “national lakeshore” since 1966 and then was re-designated as the 61st U.S. national park in 2019. We visited on a day when temperatures climbed into the 90s, but still enjoyed a challenging hike through the dunes,…

What to stash this week: Knit after reading

An illustration of a cozy book nook at a window with snow falling outside. Pillows and books are strewn across the window seat with a cat adorned in a hat and sweater lying atop a stack of books. The text “winter holiday book box: a cozy snowy day inside” is centered on the image.

Andrea of WoolenWomenFibers is combining reading and the holidays with her Knit & Nibble series. She’s offering two book boxes themed around the holidays. There’s the Holiday Cafe theme and the A Cozy Snowy Day Inside theme. Both boxes will include a paperback copy of Silent Knit, Deadly Knit by Peggy Earhart. They also come with a sock set (a 100g skein plus a 20g mini), a set of three SamsTinyTrinkets charms and a themed Trinket Dish,…

There will also be live judging of fleece,…

Cesium Yarn came to my attention a couple of years ago when they released a collection of hand-dyed yarn inspired by Pyrex. Former Indie Untangled event planner Petrina is a vintage Pyrex collector and I loved the theme….

What to stash this week: Empire state of yarn

Skeins of yarn in assorted colors assembled in a row laying on a stone surface. Yellow sunflowers have been spread around them.

Megs & Co’s latest yarn is pure New York. Empire Estate is comprised of non-Superwash Rambouillet wool sourced from Elly’s Acres Farms, a family-run sheep farm in Jamesville. It’s spun across the Hudson River at Battenkill Fibers and then dyed in nine New York-inspired colorways by Megan at her studio in Fairport. The 3-ply DK-weight yarn has impeccable stitch definition, perfect for cables and colorwork.

If you’re an Outlander fan,…
