Celebrating naturally colored wool

Hello fellow fiber crafters!

We all know and love the bright colors that can be achieved by dyeing white fibers. However, sheep (and other fiber animals) come in a variety colors! And if you follow me at all, you know that I love to work with non-white fleeces!

So in today’s post I will be celebrating some of my products (both handspun yarn and fibers) that use non-white fleeces!

The two group pictures of multiple colorways actually used two different fleeces: the darker one is from a mostly black/dark gray Romeldale/CVM fleece, while the more colorful one is from a light brown Romney fleece.

As always I washed, picked, carded, dyed and spun everything myself and I just love how the natural color of the wool enhances the dye. It is just so much fun to work with!

And sometimes I don’t even dye the wool at all and just let the natural color be the star of the show!

So if you want to check out my yarns and fibers, make sure to visit my website!
