I collaborated with Fiber Lily for this design. When I was first introduced to her work, I was struck by Kylie’s unique approach to dyeing: color therapy! The colourways are carefully curated for uplifting or calm, relaxing knitting time. This made her brand a no-brainer for pattern that emphasizes self care.
Kylie created two special colorways for the design: Ebb and Flow, which I transformed into the pattern… Ebb & Flow.
When it comes to self care, millions of people rely on yoga — not only for relaxation, flexibility, and general health, but also for self-reflection and self-actualization. Particularly in Vinyasa yoga, the emphasis is on synchronized breathing, with smooth transitions from one pose to another. Like the rise and fall of the tides, the body and breath work together in constant motion. This fluidity of breath and movement naturally leads to greater flow of energy through the body and mind. Ebb & Flow echoes that energy as it transitions from garter stitch to feather-and-fan lace and back again. The graceful crescent shape is worked top down in two coordinating colors; then, the applied lace border is worked sideways along the lower edge.
