5 things to knit right now + 5 things to stash

A flat lay of an outfit with a purple short sleeved sweater, a pink linen dress, a pink circle bag and skeins of pink and purple yarn.

We’re in a strange in-between season when it comes to knitting — we want to prepare for all the fall things, but we don’t necessarily want a thick pile o’ wool in our laps. So, this week, I decided to share some projects that take very little time to complete, but that don’t have to be set aside until October to wear (or, let’s be honest, December, with the way our weather tends to go). …

What to stash this week: Colorful yarn countdown

An illustration of a colorful striped sweater and a box filled with colorful yarn balls with the text Colors of the Year printed on the side.

For this year’s Indie Untangled New Year countdown box, I decided to turn to the color trend-forecasting group PANTONE® for inspiration. Join 26 indie dyers for Colors of the Year, and count down to 2024 with yarn colorways inspired by every Pantone Color of the Year since 2000!

Your box will include:

• 24 fingering-weight mini skeins designed to flow together cohesively (each mini is 20g and has approximately 90 yards)
• Two full fingering-weight skeins designed to showcase the minis
• Five specially-created or selected gifts
• One shawl pattern to knit with your minis,…

What to stash this week: Summer yarn

A light skinned woman wearing a purple lace top standing on green grass.

Christine of Treasure Goddess Yarn has what just might be the perfect yarn for those summer projects. Her Bamboo Linen Treasures base is comprised of 70% bamboo and 30% linen provide a combination of drape and just enough structure for lightweight summer tops and shawls. It’s also one of the featured yarns for the Olive Knits 4 Day KAL, called Lemon Spritz. (Don’t worry, you don’t actually need to finish in four days!)

It’s officially summer,…

What to stash while you wait to buy Indie Untangled tickets

An illustrated mermaid with a crocheted tail with a ball of yarn streaming from it on a pink T-shirt.

Val, a longtime friend and colleague of mine, recently joined our community and started crocheting again after learning as a child. With a background in art and a love for all things vintage, Val recently started creating craft-related art and has debuted her super fun Crochet Maid design. The Crochet Maid’s tail is modeled after granny squares in groovy ’70s hues and she’s available on T-shirts, tote bags, stickers, phone cases and even wall art….

Audrey of The Conifer Collective has opened preorders for her BFF Collection. What to stash this week: Sand knits

A row of colorful beach cottages, a light-skinned woman wearing a cream-colored ribbed hat and a skein of cream-colored yarn with pale pink, purple and blue speckles.

Last year, Amélie of Quebec-based Emilia & Philomene collaborated with designer Marion Mursic of Marion Em Knits on a yarn and design inspired by colorful beach shacks that line the sand in the North of France, where Marion resides. The gently speckled colorway, Tricots de Sable, which translates to sand knits, was dyed on a lovely blend of wool and linen that is ideal for working with in the heat of summer. Marion held the yarn double for her Sable Hat pattern,…

What to stash this week: yarn gold in the hills

Mountaintops splashed with blue, purple, pink orange and teal colors and skeins of yarn that mirror those colors.

Susie of Fiber MacGyver transformed nature’s magic — a photo of the Artists Palette in Death Valley National Park, taken by Jon Fischer — into this stunning colorway, Painted Hills. It’s available to preorder through Indie Untangled on two bases through April 21.

Jo of Yarn Therapy has created an enchanted woodland adventure with yarn. This collection of 18 colorways, hand dyed in Yarn Therapy’s solar-powered studio in New Zealand (that is maybe visited by hobbits),…
