Val, a longtime friend and colleague of mine, recently joined our community and started crocheting again after learning as a child. With a background in art and a love for all things vintage, Val recently started creating craft-related art and has debuted her super fun Crochet Maid design. The Crochet Maid’s tail is modeled after granny squares in groovy ’70s hues and she’s available on T-shirts, tote bags, stickers, phone cases and even wall art.

Courtney of Silly Goose Yarns has created a special colorway, called No Big Deal, in support of the trans community. It’s inspired by the favorite colors of a trans teen whose friends warmly accept him into their group.
Courtney will donate at least $5 from each skein purchased to TIGERRS, which is dedicated to delivering quality, robust and consistent direct services to the transgender, intersex and gender-expansive communities in Courtney’s home state of Minnesota.
The Pittsburgh Creative Arts/Knit & Crochet Festival is taking place August 24-26 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Green Tree, Penn. There will be a vibrant, multivendor marketplace and more than 70 classes in knitting, crocheting, sewing/quilting, weaving and more. Friday includes a fun night of fiber Bingo (pictured above). Attendees can also get crafty by making soap sacks to be donated within the Pittsburgh community and work on a blanket for the Linus Project, which provides handmade blankets to children 0-18 in the United States who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need.
