Meet Destin, my new summer shawl pattern. Funny story: I named this shawl Destin because I was 75% sure my family was going to take our first trip after Covid to sunny Destin, Florida, and I really wanted to take pictures on the beach with this shawl….
But, then we saw hotel and AirBnB prices — I think everyone had the same plan!
We went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, Texas instead. It was a weekend of screaming children, giant water slides, and lazy rivers. Plenty of fun, but it didn’t feel right to change the name of this lovely shawl!
So, here is to a future trip to Destin, maybe in 2022 or 2023!
This shawl is worked from the bottom up. There are two sections to this pattern, the first section consists of a bobble cast-on, and rows of eyelets and button holes — the stitch count doesn’t change in this part. Next, comes a series of short rows to create the “crescent” shape finished with a stretchy Icelandic bind-off.
