When Sharon Hartley of @riverroadknits and I first started talking about yarn for Light Academia, the planned bright cousin to her amazing Dark Academia sweater, she spoke of sunny libraries, green ivy climbing up ivory towers, a walk through fallen leaves with a good book in hand. The architectural elements are expressed in lace and textured stitches, flowing into colorwork vines of ivy at the bottom of the yoke. The bottom maintains the archway motif as floral elements fill in the arches and frame the colorwork.
The pattern is currently in testing with an official release date slated for November 12, but Sharon is pre-releasing it today, in case you want to start thinking of yarn while shopping the shows over Rhinebeck weekend. Her sample, along with kits in the original colorway of my Deep Sock base and several other color options, will be in my booth at the Indie Untangled trunk show. You may get to meet the designer herself, as she’ll be at the show most of the afternoon.
