Did you know September 15th is National Make a Hat Day? 🥳

Ever thought about knitting a hat? It’s such a brilliant way to practice new skills and techniques! Here’s why:

First off, hats are the perfect size — not too big, not too small. You can finish one quickly, which means no long-term commitment like with a sweater or blanket. Who doesn’t love a quick win?

Plus, hats are a playground for techniques! Ribbing, shaping (hello, increases and decreases), working in the round, colorwork, lace, cables, texture — you name it, hats have it. It’s like a mini knitting workshop all wrapped up in one project.

And let’s talk about that sense of accomplishment. Because hats are quick, you get that instant gratification. There’s nothing like finishing a project and feeling that boost of confidence, especially when you’re trying something new.

Hats are also super practical. They’re functional, make great gifts, and you can wear them yourself! It’s a tangible reward for all your hard work and practice.

Lastly, hats are portable. You can take them anywhere, so you can knit at home, on the go, or wherever you find yourself with a bit of free time. How convenient is that?

So, stop by your favorite Local Yarn Store to pick up some pretty yarn or use what you have in your stash, grab your needles, and let’s celebrate by knitting a hat together from one of my designs! 🎉

Find my hat patterns on Ravelry.

The Flowers in the Field Shawlette features a delicate crescent shape, knit from the bottom up, like flowers blossoming from the earth towards the sky. The bottom edge is adorned with a lace pattern that mimics wildflowers swaying in the breeze.

This easy-to-knit, one-skein wonder, crescent-shaped shawl is knit from the bottom up and created using common decreases and yarnovers.

Beth test knit the pattern and shared:
“This shawl is fun! Just interesting enough to not be boring but not so difficult you can’t do anything else. Love how the short rows turned out. Also loved the option to use as much of the skein as possible.”

And test knitter Lisa shared:
“What a stunning shawl! As soon as I saw the test knitting call I knew I had to have this beauty on my needles. I couldn’t put this project down and I was done within a week. The great pattern + the gorgeous yarn = a wonderful shawl! Crescent-shaped shawls are my favourite to wear. The pattern is well-written, easy to follow, and easy to read. Jessica gives helpful tips along the way. The scalloped edge is oh so pretty!”

The Flowers in the Field Shawlette knitting pattern includes:
• Fully written instructions,
• A chart for the stitch pattern repeat,
• A standard formatted print-friendly version and a Large Print Version for low vision and screen reader accessibility

Ready to wrap yourself in this beautiful creation? Grab your needles and yarn, and cast on today!
