Showing Lyrical Knits

Just in time for vacation knitting — A completely seamless shawl in three colors that begins with three separate squares that are gradually connected to each other. The garter stitch is soothing and portable while the construction keeps things fun and sleek — you’ll never have a gazillion stitches on the needles, and no huge work-in-progress flopping around on your lap until the very end of the project. It’s fun with geometry with the math all done for you.

Enjoy 30% off the pattern with the code takethesquareroute now through July 22nd.

Get your inner nerdy neurobiologist on: The character of Amy Farrah Fowler (AFF) is known to fans of The Big Bang Theory as the quirky scientist who works her way into Sheldon Cooper’s heart. She emerges from her social oddities to become Penny’s best friend and Sheldon’s wife and equal partner — all while rocking knee-high socks, an occasional tiara and usually a cardigan.

This design, Farrah Fowler, is inspired by Amy’s style and smarts: Top-down, raglan stockinette sleeves makes the construction easy while the simple cable pattern on the front and back keeps it interesting and cozy. The fit is intended for 1-2” of positive ease, but it will work beautifully if you prefer to wear it a little more fitted since the cable pattern has a good bit of stretch to it.

Branches In Bloom is a sweet, top-down pullover with a graceful, branch + blossom cable motif at the hem. The modified raglan sleeves are designed to stay put on your shoulders, while increases below the elbow give a slightly blouse-y effect without being over-the-top. The sweater is worked inside-out so that you barely have to purl at all! And all the hard work of charting the delightful cable pattern upside-down and inside-out is all done for you, so you can just follow the directions with ease (Not into charts? No worries — the cable motif is also written out line by line for you).

The pattern is on sale at a discount through Saturday, April 27th, so check out the pattern page for details.

The sample is worked holding a strand of mohair-silk lace weight with a strand of single-ply fingering yarn for a drapey fabric that’s out-of-this-world soft. Alternatively, you can work the sweater in a DK or worsted weight yarn to the same gauge.

A Hamilton-themed Mystery Knit-A-Long! The project will result in generous cowl that wears a bit like a shawl (but is easier to drape around your neck). Each clue of the pattern has references to the show, and the cowl itself will have elements that are reminiscent of it as well. Don’t worry if you’re (gasp) not a Hamilton fan — those elements can be skipped very easily, and you’ll still have an awesome cowl in the end.

The project requires less than a typical skein of DK weight yarn in each of three colors, so it’s terrific for stash busting as well.

The second installment in the Cardigans of the Galaxy series, this comfortable, open front cardi is inspired by the character of Rocket in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie series.

A genetically modified raccoon, Rocket makes an unlikely superhero. He’s irritated that he doesn’t fit in anywhere, but there’s no confusion over his feelings for money (spoiler: he loves it). Rocket’s cardigan is a nod to both: He gets a top-down, cardi that’s the color of money (gold and green) with a diamond lace-and-cable motif that weaves in and out of a broken rib pattern. And hey, who isn’t a little broken?

Enjoy 30% off Rocket’s Cardigan of the Galaxy pattern now through April 15th with the code Oogachaka.

Worked seamlessly from the top down with one of the prettiest lace patterns ever (both charted and written out), this versatile, drop-shouldered pullover can be worked either as a sleeveless top in a lightweight fiber for warm climes, or with sleeves to keep you cozy in chilly weather.

Short rows shape the shoulders so that they angle downward (no dreaded “wings” at the shoulders!) and reduce bulk at the underarms. Slim sleeves keep the look modern and sleek. A photo tutorial lets you check your work, and Lyrical Knits’ popular Some Thoughts About Fit section is included to help you modify to your tastes.
