The refreshing, cooling rain on a summer afternoon and the rejuvenating scent of fresh lavender were the inspiration for my newest yarn, Rain Drops. Beautiful aqua and blue hues flow through the yarn with hints of delicate lavender. Together, they create a Zen-like color combination that’s hard to resist.

This beautiful Merino/silk singly-ply yarn, paired with Katie Degroff’s exclusive pattern, Rain Kissed, creates a beautiful, airy, and lacey cowl that will be perfect for wearing on cool spring days or summer evenings. It can be a perfect accessory for your outfit to add color, texture and a bit of warmth.

Canon Hand Dyes is a Portland, OR-based company, specializing in self-striping yarns and mini-skein sets with a literary twist. I do a few updates every month in my Etsy shop, and most months have a “Book of the Month” theme to the updates. I am currently finishing up my Babar updates for April, and May will get slightly away from the literary theme, straying into motion pictures with Wes Anderson films being the theme for all of my self striping yarns and color work sets.

In addition to my Etsy Shop self-striping updates, I have a full collection of repeatable solid colors in the shop at all times. The collection is inspired by Downton Abbey, and all 30 colors in that collection are dyed to order in any amount from a single skein to a sweater quantity.

Please join me over on Ravelry in my Canon Hand Dyes group for more information on shop updates, clubs, KALs, and other announcements.

You heard right, it’s Rainbow Madness over at Cuddlebums following the launch of our Little Rainbows collection in the last couple of months. We now have some new colourways including Twilight Rainbow which is proving very popular. We run monthly Market Nights with ready-to-go stock and take custom orders too.

Everyone needs a little bit of rainbow in their lives!

Mavis, a fingering weight Merino/silk blend, is delightful to work with. Soft Merino with a silky shimmer makes this a luxurious yarn. I’m excited to announce that this yarn is available in larger skeins. Mavis now comes in 113 gram / 434 yard skeins. That’s over 50 yards more than the previous skein size. See the website for details and several new colorways.

Starting on Friday, April 25, I’ll be hosting another giveaway. Stop by the blog and enter for a chance to win.

We’re having a sale! Use the coupon code SUGARDIP2014 to receive 25% off your purchase.
(Minimum purchase $50. Offer ends 27th April 2014)

In addition to the sale, we are having a sock yarn giveaway. A fun new 6-colour Colourist Sock Yarn will be available from May 2014. The six colours that make up this vibrant Merino Nylon mix are: Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Beige and Grey.

You have the chance of winning a skein of the new colour by doing the following:
~ Like the Atelier Facebook page, and
~ Correctly name the colour in the comments section of the Atelier Giveaway post.
Clues will be given from time to time to help you guess the name. The competition will close 15th May 2014 and a winner will be chosen at random from the comments if no one guesses the name before then.

Have a great week everyone!

Greetings! We are relatively new to Etsy, but we have our humble beginnings dyeing non-superwash or “diapering base” yarns to the cloth diapering community, and over the years we’ve added an entire repertoire of new bases from sock yarns to cashmere. Our superwash Merino 62s fiber is a favorite. We do all sorts of colors from rich, saturated rainbow, to subtle or muted semisolids.

We have items in stock and, yes, we do custom orders. We have sock, DK, aran, and “Game of Thrones” clubs. We also do special edition Hubble telescope and fiber flower colorways.

We are running a special through May — Send us your blank yarn and we will dye a semisolid color of your choice for $5/4 oz. Hope to hear from you soon!

The Atelier shop has been updated with three new colours: Dexter, Christmas Grey and It’s not Easy.

Dexter is an amazing combination of vibrant reds overlayed with black.
Christmas Grey is a fabulous mix of tonal greys – from light to mid grey.
It’s not Easy is variegated green, from vibrant to dusty shades.

All are on the Sydney Merino Fingering/Sock/Shawl/4 ply base, a 100% SW Merino 2-ply springy yarn that is 400 yards and 100 grams.

To celebrate the launch of Indie Untangled, I’m giving away a Yarn Knot kit from the next installment. Yarn Knot is my quarterly yarn subscription, and the next round will ship in May. To enter the giveaway, hop over to the website and sign up for the newsletter. The winner, chosen at random, will be selected from the recent newsletter sign-ups. The contest closes on Friday, April 25.

On Saturday, April 26, you’ll find me at the Connecticut Sheep, Wool & Fiber Festival. In addition to the vendor market, this event includes workshops, sheep dog demonstrations, a fleece sale and other activities. I’ll be in the Green Building with a selection of new colorways and kits.
