What to stash this week: Festival season

A cute sheep, some colorful braids of yarn, and a handspun grey-white marled skein of yarn, with Lambtown Festival dates Oct 7-8 2023.

the 37th Lambtown Festival is coming up in a couple of weeks, on October 7 and 8. It takes place in Dixon, California, which is about halfway between the Bay Area and Sacramento in the heart of wine country (or is it wool country?). A bus will travel from San Francisco and Oakland on the 8th for folks who don’t want to drive or who are flying in from out of town.

What to stash this week: Almost peak yarn season

Many hanks of variegated orange, purple, teal yarn called Harvest Moon.

Fall has already arrived for Carolyn and Michelle of Olive & Two Ewe (well, as much as fall can arrive in Florida!) and they are marking it with a new colorway. Harvest Moon is a blend of rich oranges, teals and purples that you can just see pixelating into a sea of leaves and apple cider. Check out their post for some colorways to pair it with for your upcoming fall projects. …

5 things to knit right now + 5 things to stash

A flat lay of an outfit with a purple short sleeved sweater, a pink linen dress, a pink circle bag and skeins of pink and purple yarn.

We’re in a strange in-between season when it comes to knitting — we want to prepare for all the fall things, but we don’t necessarily want a thick pile o’ wool in our laps. So, this week, I decided to share some projects that take very little time to complete, but that don’t have to be set aside until October to wear (or, let’s be honest, December, with the way our weather tends to go). …

What to stash this week: Pride and support

A sock knit with 6 rainbow colors surrounded by 6 rainbow balls of yarn.

Teresa of Sunny Day Fiber is celebrating and supporting her LGBTQ+ family members and friends with a rainbow mini skein set. To her, these colors represent “showing up as your authentic and unique self each and every day,” and are a reminder of the importance of being an ally. To that end, Sunny Day Fiber will be donating 20% of their proceeds this month to The Trevor Project, which provides crisis support services to lesbian,…

What to stash while you wait to buy Indie Untangled tickets

An illustrated mermaid with a crocheted tail with a ball of yarn streaming from it on a pink T-shirt.

Val, a longtime friend and colleague of mine, recently joined our community and started crocheting again after learning as a child. With a background in art and a love for all things vintage, Val recently started creating craft-related art and has debuted her super fun Crochet Maid design. The Crochet Maid’s tail is modeled after granny squares in groovy ’70s hues and she’s available on T-shirts, tote bags, stickers, phone cases and even wall art….

What to stash this week: Prepare, in advance, for spooky season

An image collage with a curved tree branch, a pile of buttons, an antique key in a key hole, a red and white striped circus tent and the back of a light-skinned woman walking through a forest in a yellow raincoat and green rain boots.

Courtney of Silly Goose Yarns has opened preorders for her upcoming Halloween box, inspired by the movie Coraline. This spooky stop-motion animated film is based on Neil Gaiman’s novella about a girl exploring a parallel world accessed by a door in her apartment.
