This is the 10th in a series of blog posts featuring the fabulous sponsors of Indie Untangled, taking place on October 17, 2025, in person in Saugerties, NY, and online.
For her seventh Indie Untangled show, Debbie of Murky Depths Dyeworks continues to show off her talent for creating rich, layered colorways while exploring new non-Superwash bases.
She’s bringing some incredible additions to this year’s show, taking place tomorrow, on October 17. In her guest post below, she shares the story behind her newest yarns, from a rare Corrie Woolenspun spun in the UK to a 100% U.S.-sourced Targhee and the return of her custom-milled Cormo Sport.
Read on to get a sneak peek at what’s coming to her booth (and to plan what you’ll want to squish first!).
While I will never walk away from my core Superwash bases, which are the perfect canvas to create complex colors and a painterly range of variegated yarns, a dyer doesn’t live by Merino alone. I’ve been exploring more non-Superwash bases and today I’ll be launching not one, but two, new ones!
The most exciting is my Corrie Woolenspun. Spun in the UK from British fleece, this is a real unicorn. There’s not a lot of woolen-spun yarn on the market, sadly, and this one is not only airy and lofty, it’s soft enough for next-to-the-skin items. The loose, 2ply construction allows for warm yet lightweight sweaters and the drape is excellent for shawls and other accessories. I’ll be bringing the fingering-weight, which has 492 yards to each 100-gram skein, but I can also offer special orders on a sportweight version.

The other new base is one I soft launched this summer, a 100% USA-sourced Targhee worsted. This one is a nice plump 4ply that comes in generous 115-gram skeins with 280 yards each. The natural crimp of Targhee sheep results in a yarn that really shows off cables and textures, and the base takes colors like a dream. I have an assortment of 16 colors crossing the range from deeply saturated to cool and icy.
I’ll also be bringing the last of my custom-milled Cormo Sport that I launched last year at the Indie Untangled show. Hailing from Montana, this is another next-to-skin-soft option for sweaters and its natural bounce allows gauges that cover the range from sport to DK.

I have some fantastic sweater samples in all three bases ready for everyone to fondle and squish! And of course, I’ll have a huge array of my Merino, mohair and yak blend yarns as well as hand-dyed fiber. So excited to see everyone!
