Aubergine and the new Shelley Yarn Base

  • Three skeins of gray and cream yarn with the word Shelley written in cursive in white on a black background.
  • Three skeins of light purple yarn.
  • A large hank of cream yarn with two mini skeins of yarn in gray and purple.
  • A pink square with the words CocoKnits with a picture of a towel, a brush, and a ruler.

As we lurch towards fall (yes, we know it’s still hotter than hades in much of the country) beginning September 22nd, our minds just keep focusing on Halloween for some reason. It could be that for some time now, we’ve been planning to debut our new yarn base just ahead of the spooky season; so much so that we’ve named this newest base after the author of one of the most iconic gothic novels ever written.

Mary Shelley is best known as the author of Frankenstein, or as it is sometimes known, The Modern Prometheus. The novel has endured and has been brought to life (pun intended) through countless films over the years. We thought it would be perfect to name our new worsted base after this fascinating author.

Shelley is a frightfully (in a good way) squishy 100% Superwash Merino 4ply worsted weight yarn. The 100-gram hank offers 218 yards of plump fiber goodness. Worsted weights are fantastic for quick projects and it’s easy to find patterns for all of your favorite items; from hats and cowls to beautiful sweaters, shawls and more! It took us some time to find just the right 100% Superwash yarn to offer in a worsted weight, but we think you’re going to love it!

Aubergine is brand new in the shop this week and offered on multiple bases, including the new Shelley! This squishy, 100% Superwash Merino is sure to please in all those worsted projects.

Bamboozled is back in the shop this week in a new, wonderful way! We’ve got single hanks, of course, but also those expanded sock sets you know and love in both fingering and DK weights! While Bamboozled is largely a neutral, it offers the addition of limited pops of color that add visual interest to any project it touches. It’s particularly lovely with Rióga and Charcoal, which is why those are the two coordinating minis you’ll find in the sock sets this week. However, due to the neutral nature of Bamboozled, you’ll find many more colors you can pair with it. Be sure to check out the Bamboozled Sock Sets!

Also updated this week in the shop are Charcoal and Buttercream. Neutrals are alive and well, especially as we head into the cooler (we hope!) months.

Speaking of cooler days ahead, our Tennyson and Tennyson DK yarn offers the much-loved tweedy look that is so incredibly popular in the later months of the year. Now is the time to stock up! Many colors are stocked in the shop now, but if you don’t see what you need, simply email us and we are happy to set up a special order for three or more hanks of the same colorway. Easy peasy!

Birthday Club for 2023 is now open! Read further down for more details and we recommend ordering early so you can cross it off your to-do list and then be surprised when your birthday rolls around. What fun is that?!? It’s the yarny kind, I tell you! 🙂

CocoKnits has just released two new items as part of their Sweater Care Line, so you’ll want to scroll down in the newsletter to read more about those and the Ruler & Gauge sets now on PREORDER.

Tune in Saturday morning for our LIVE! over on our YouTube channel, where we’ll be sharing all the beautiful new and restocked items in the shop along with our WIPS and news about what’s happening in the Olive & Two Ewe Studios world. Can’t wait to “see” EWE!
