Brimham High Twist on the website now!

Hello from ECY Shedquarters. Lovely bit of summer we are having here in Yorkshire! I thrive in warmer temperatures and it is wonderful to see the garden in full bloom. I have lots of news to tell you about today including news of our latest yarn update!

Brimham High Twist has had a long overdue update and although it is a smaller update than other recent ones we are sure you will find lots to love. Brimham High Twist is the same blend of Superwash extrafine Merino with nylon as found in our other Brimham yarns but this is two plies spun to a fingering weight. The two strands twisted tightly together give it a different texture to its 4ply counterpart, and make it a good solid yarn with plenty of structure. It’s smooth and soft enough for next-to-skin wear as well. Worked at a looser gauge, it has enough drape for lace, and it has very crisp stitch definition for cables and lace. This latest update will complement our recent mini skein update, you can find all Brimham High Twist on the website. A full skein and contrasting mini skein would be perfect for statement socks or fingerless mitts with contrasting cuffs and toes or other details.

Have you seen our dyed-to-order yarn listings? We have them for most of our main yarns and they are a great way to get those sweater quantities of yarn in your chosen colour in between our scheduled updates. We have now added Rosedale 4ply to this list alongside the discontinued Silverdale 4ply, BUT they are both currently unavailable from our supplier until late July. There is a menu category for Dyed to Order yarns and they are also in the categories for the individual yarns. We are only able to offer this for quantities of five skeins or more and the yarn will be dyed as quickly as possible following receipt of the order. This may take a couple of weeks depending on our schedule at the time but it will be prioritised.

Liz Corke’s latest pattern is the Gloaming shortie socks and it uses Brimham 4ply in Dusk. Gloaming socks have a lace pattern covering the foot. Knit from the toe up with a gusset and heel flap and flexible length fitting on the foot, these socks are a great knit for everyone. The pattern is written for short socks and in four sizes but guidance is included in the pattern to lengthen them into ankle socks. You can find the pattern on Liz’s website and Brimham 4ply on our website, but Brimham High Twist would be a perfect substitution, just be aware that it has 360m/100g rather than the 400m/100g of Brimham 4ply.

Laura and I realised the other day that although we had reviewed and updated our shipping policy and pricing recently (following the latest round of Royal Mail price increases) we hadn’t told you about them! Over the past few years, international shipping had become quite unreliable due to Covid, Brexit and the cyber attack last January, but in the last few months the situation has greatly improved for the EU and the US. For this reason we are now more confident in reintroducing the cheaper untracked shipping to these locations, and so far everything sent untracked recently has arrived just fine. We have also added more shipping regions to allow for more accurate pricing and options, for example Canada and Australia do not offer Signed For services and so that has been reflected. You can find all Shipping Information on the website here and this can also be found using the website footer menu.
