Lots of lovely laceweight

Where are the weeks going?? Thank you to everyone who came to see us at The Wool Monty at the weekend. Our next show will be Yarningham in Birmingham on 13th & 14th July 2024. You can find tickets and more information on the Yarningham website. We’d love to see you there! We’ll be in a room on the first floor so I *really* hope you’ll come and find us. 🤞

Since getting back from The Wool Monty, we have been able to photograph our latest updates, Titus Lace and Bowland Lace. Both of these yarns are now available on the website. Titus Lace is an ECY classic, a blend of Superwash extrafine Merino with mulberry silk. There are plenty of recommendations for patterns that would be suitable for this yarn in our blog post, which you can find the link to on our Yarn Specific Blog Posts Index.

Bowland Lace is pure British Bluefaced Leicester yarn. This is more woolly than Titus Lace. We have a few blog posts about this yarn including an Introduction, Pattern Suggestions and a Projects and Patterns blog post. This really is a beautiful yarn which seems quite solid in the skein but is completely different once made into fabric!

An Eldwick Lace update is also LIVE on the website. This is quite a special update as we have chosen the colours especially to coordinate with the 20 shades of the Milburn range. In the listings you will see how the colours look with the suggested colour and we have added the corresponding Milburn colour suggestions in the descriptions. The inspiration for this update came from my (Victoria’s) Love Note sweater by Tin Can Knits made using Eldwick Lace in Steel with Milburn 4ply in Rain, shown below. As this pattern works well with mohair and a 4ply/fingering-weight yarn in the same or a similar colour it was the perfect opportunity to show the combination of hand dyed and mill dyed colourways. If you’d like to browse just the pics all in one place you can do that by checking out the Flickr album of them HERE. Whilst you’re on Flickr, do check out our other albums — there’s all sorts there, especially if you scroll past all the update-specific ones! Of course this is only one way to use Eldwick Lace and we have lots of other suggestions for projects it is great for in our blog post.

We had a request a while ago for a Milburn DK yarn pack for Janie Crow’s Spirit of Flora CAL. We looked into it and selected suitable colours from our palette, working out quantities required. Having put this information together we thought why not add this to the website as an option! We now have pictures of the colour palette for the listing which is available on our website.

The next update on the schedule is Brimham High Twist — Superwash extrafine Merino with nylon, two plies spun to a fingering-weight yarn. It has been ages since our last update of this yarn and with having recently added mini skeins to the website we thought now was the ideal time to include full size skeins. That should be coming to the website towards the end of the month. The next two updates after that will be Pendle 4ply (pure Superwash extrafine Merino) and Keld Twist (Merino and linen, two plies spun to a fingering weight!). Plus lots more on the cards!!
