Showing Invictus Yarns

Lisa K. Ross, the talented designer behind Paper Daisy Creations, started the #LotsOfSocks Initiative last year in her Ravelry group as a way to raise funds and awareness for Down Syndrome. Over $21,000 was raised!

I’m proud to once again be a sponsor for this event and thrilled that Lisa has chosen to use our #LotsOfSocks Halfsies colorway for her soon-to-be-released featured design this year. See the second pic for a sneak peek! Blue and yellow are the Down Syndrome colors, which inspired our choice for the Halfsies sets. There are two 50g skeins in in each set, for a total of 100g/400yds.

Our #LotsOfSocks colorway is now available in the shop. We will be donating $3 from each set sold to National Down Syndrome Society. That amount will increase to $5 per set if/when 20 sets are sold! Donation will be made on March 21 and will be for all skeins sold through March 20, 2020.

If you’re not familiar with the program, here’s an glimpse at what Lisa has posted in her Ravelry group:

“Do you know about the #lotsofsocks initiative? Those with Down syndrome have a 3rd copy of chromosome 21, so on 3/21 (March 21) the world celebrates World Down Syndrome Day. The idea behind #lotsofsocks is that everyone wears two different colorful socks to highlight the uniqueness of these individuals and show their support for the Down syndrome community. This KAL was designed to create LOTS of socks that will also generate support and awareness for a great cause! Tag your Ravelry projects #lotsofsocksKAL.

SALE INFO:
Each day from February 5-19, a different featured designer will have a sock pattern on sale for 50% off. Some of these are new designs and some will be their existing designs… each day will be a surprise! On that day, ALL sales of the highlighted design will go to supporting Down Syndrome International. Sign up for my newsletter or follow me on Instagram (@paperdaisycreations) to be the first to get notified of the sale patterns!”

Thank you so much for your support this year, and your patience while the new site was being set up. I truly appreciate every one of you!

As many of you may know, we lost designer Adrienne Fong (Her Ravelry username was bellybuttonknits, or bbk as she was affectionately known). She was a wonderful person, and I will always fondly remember her.

Wisdom is a colorway that we collaborated on for one of her designs, and we laughed about the steps involved in getting it just right for her vision. I will forever hold it dear to my heart.

From her designer page on Ravelry: Adrienne lost her battle with cancer 9/18/2019. Per Adrienne’s wishes, her patterns are free here on Ravelry. Knowing that Ravelers would want to do something, she said that donations toward the fight against cancer would be appreciated.

I will be donating $10 for each skein sold to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

**Please Note: These skeins are dyed to order and will be shipped within three weeks.**

There are a number of KALs being held on Ravelry in her honor, including the Invictus Yarns Group. I’m proud to be sponsoring a commemorative KAL in the Solid Socks group in December/January as well. This colorway has been approved for use in that group.

We’ve also added some new WhoDunit UnClub colorways and restocked Sock Rulers since the last post.

It feels like Fall might actually be on the way after a hothot summer!

We’ve got some great fall colorways for you, including Diwali Lights, Jack-o-Lantern Confetti Stripes, Fall Stripes and Carpe Fishem to get you in a festive mood. New additions to the WhoDunIt UnClub add some fun, too, and there are also a limited number of Segues available in the shop.

If you’re in the area, check out the Sierra Nevada Yarn Crawl Sept 18-22! Auburn Needleworks will have a selection of our Seraphic and Wondrous skeins on hand.

Lambtown is right around the corner, too! My favorite yarn show will be October 5-6 this year, in Dixon, CA. It’s a great show, with lots of things to do and see! Our booth will be in Madden Hall again this year, in our usual spot. Hope to see you there!

We’re so excited to announce our move to a new site! It’s been a long time coming, and as a thank you for your patience while everything was moved, we’re offering a 10% grand opening sale on all in-stock items through August 4! No coupon code is needed, as discount will automatically be applied at checkout.

Shawl kits, mini sets and luxe blends, including baby camel and yak, are just some of the things that you’ll find in the shop, with updates occurring throughout the month.

I’m so proud to again be a sponsor for Tour de Sock, a knitting competition that is also a fund raiser for Doctors Without Borders! Not familiar with TdS? Check out the Ravelry group here! Knit for speed or just hang out and have fun whether you compete or not! The small entrance fee gives you access to seven sock patterns, discount codes from sponsors, and a chance to win prizes!

Special TdS colorways are now available in the shop and are available whether you’re racing or not. : D

Registration runs through June 25, and the Tour kicks off with the first pattern drop on July 15.

Collaborating with designer Casapinka on Gray Area, her new pattern, has been great. I’ve had a blast putting together different color combinations in the kits, and hope that you can find the perfect set for your project! Each set contains 6 mini skeins with 100 yds/25 gr each and one full sized skein with 400 yds/100 gr of fingering weight yarn. Choose from Victorious, a lovely superwash merino, or Beyond, a wonderful MCN blend.

Upcoming Shows:
Stitches West in Santa Clara, CA Feb 23-26
Vogue Knitting Live Vegas March 24-26
Stop by and say hello if you’re there!

Sock Madness is kicking off on Ravelry and we’re thrilled to be offering Knit the Madness, a special colorway for the event. Check it out, even if you’re like me, and watch from the sidelines! : D

October has been a busy month! We had a booth at Lambtown as well as Fiber Fusion NW, but have made it back home, took a quick breath, and got busy getting the shop back up and running, with some returning favorites as well as some new colorways! Both shows were a lot of fun, but it’s always good to get back home and settle into a routine again. : D

The shop should stay stocked until it’s time to head out for Stitches West in February. Stop by if you’re there!
