Showing Pancake and Lulu / PLYarn

Hello and happy spring from Pancake and Lulu Yarn, aka PLY! For April, fun colors and spring refreshing are on my mind.

In yarn news, I am still on a speckle experimentation kick. I have been creating some new Speckle Semisolids, which read like solids from afar, but are more speckle-y when viewed up close compared to my regular semisolids. I am having so much fun using these with some more traditional speckles in my latest cast-on: the Soldotna Crop by Boyland Knitworks. This is my first Caitlin Hunter project and I see right away why she is so popular — the pattern is very addictive!

I’m also planning to create some really special spring miniskein sets this month. So keep an eye out for those. Some of these combos will be based off of my versions of the All You Need is Love hat by Swift Yarns and my Shortcut Cowl by Stephanie Lotven. Another will be based off of my version of the Nightshift shawl by Andrea Mowry.

Speaking of Andrea — I met her!! I attended Andrea Untangled in Brooklyn. It was such a fun event and a great evening with Andrea and the incomparable Kristy Glass. It was a thrill to meet both of them and to show off my Nightshift made with PLY yarn. They are both so friendly and fun, as are all the wonderful knitters who attended.

Lastly, in My Dye Studio news, I am in the process of creating and moving into a brand new huge (compared to my old) workspace! I have completely cleaned and painted the basement under my kitchen and am installing a large restaurant sink, ventilation system and work tables. Check Instagram this month for my progress reports. It will be a total dream space for me to work in. Yay for fresh spring projects!

Well, that’s about it for now. Hope you are enjoying your spring so far (or cozying up with your knits for fall, if you are in the other hemisphere!)

Hi Everyone,
Just a mid-month mini update to let you all know, I have been on a Spontaneous Speckle Dyeing Spree recently! Just about everyday, I am trying to dye a batch of totally spontaneous skeins and there are some in my shop now – so check them out and get ’em while you can – these are one of a kind!

Pictured is BUNICORN, a beautiful Merino/Angora fingering sock weight. I’m knitting the Shortcut Cowl by Stephanie Lotven with 1 skein of this as the main color and it is super soft and luxurious. She is having a KAL over on Ravelry, so grab a skein and join us!

Welcome to Pancake and Lulu Yarn, aka PLY!

This month is all about Rainbows and Green!

Speaking of rainbows, I have a huge selection of 80+ colors and my minis are now available in five base styles: Euro Fingering, Sparkle Fingering, Merino Nylon, Single Fingering and, the newest addition, a DK-weight Merino Nylon. (All colors are also available in full-size skeins too.)

Don’t forget to wear green this month! My favorite green has recently been VERDIGRIS. The base shown here is PLY Merino Nylon DK, available in mini or full-size skeins.

CAPPUCCINO is always in style. This gorgeous shade has been one of our best sellers recently and here’s why: it’s a yummy neutral that goes with everything. Shown here on my Merino Nylon Fingering and my Kid Mohair Silk Lace. Or choose one of my other 20 bases. I love this color — there is something magical about this dye that sometimes creates bits of slightly darker reddish speckles naturally.

I finished my Pierre Shawl, by Westknits! I used PLY Sparkle DK in VERDIGRIS, SLATE, TWILIGHT and JET. It knit up super fast — gotta love those DK projects.

I have been having so much fun experimenting with new speckle formulas. This PINNNK speckle in PLY Bulky is one I am keeping for myself — I’m kinda obsessed with it!! But, I’m going to try to repeat it so check out my shop for NEW SPECKLES this month. I’m on a kick! They will be popping up on my instagram too.

And I just wanted to highlight the PLY Clubs: I have three different clubs currently: Yarn, Fiber and Mini. AND have just added an exciting new option for the PLY Yarn Club. You now have the option of receiving all your yarns with one base of your choice. For example, do you love single fingering yarn? Now you can receive only that base, if you choose. Of course, you can still choose the combo of bases. You can join my clubs anytime for three, six or 12 months.

Well, that about wraps up this post — it’s been a busy and awesome 2019 so far!
