Showing Teton Yarn Company

In December, Teton Yarn Company is traveling to the southern Sierra Nevadas to explore the wonders of joint national parks: Sequoia-King’s Canyon National Parks; home of some of the largest trees in the world: the giant sequoias.

Our first stop in our journey is the General Sherman Sequoia, the largest tree in the world at 275 feet tall and 36 feet wide at the base. For our next stop, we visit Tehipite Dome, the highest free standing granite dome in the Sierra Nevadas, even taller than Half Dome, to catch the first light of the sun. We’ll next hike Moro Rock to catch the setting sun. Our last stop is the General Grant Sequoia, Our Nation’s Christmas Tree as designated by President Calvin Coolidge and declared a national shrine by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. On the second Sunday of December, the Sanger Chamber of Commerce, has a non-denominational Christmas celebration with a wreath laid at the foot of General Sherman by park rangers.

The next installment in the Full Moon Color Series, Strawberry Moon has risen at Teton Yarn Company. The Strawberry Moon is the last Super Moon of 2021 so I choose a very special yarn for this special moon: Denali Fingering. Denali is a luscious, luxurious blend of Merino/yak/silk with lovely sheen and drape for that extra special project.

Along with Strawberry Moon, the Summer Grand Teton Colors are here! From alpine lakes to the wildlife, from hiking trails to glorious sunsets explore the Grand Tetons through yarn and color with exclusive, one of a kind colors on a variety of yarn bases.

The May Full Moon, the Flower Moon is up at Teton Yarn Company. The Flower Moon is when wildflowers begin to bloom in earnest across the Teton Landscape. For the Flower Moon, I picked the colors of the many Teton Wildflowers: Paintbrush, Lupine, Mule Flower, Bluebells, Phlox, Flowering Sage and many more.

The Flower Moon will be a full lunar eclipse for us in the Grand Tetons in addition to being a Super Moon where the moon will appear bigger than normal in the night sky. With the lunar eclipse in mind, I picked my new yarn base Yosemite to the create the Flower Moon. Yosemite is a 2-ply Superwash Merino with one ply having black merino. Yosemite is perfect for wraps, shawls and garments, being incredibly squishy soft with great bloom. My free pattern available on Ravelry, the Teewinot Shawl will be perfect for Yosemite.

I dyed several new color ways of Yosemite to showcase this amazing new yarn base: Take a Hike in honor of the many hundreds of miles of amazing trails in the Grand Tetons, Where the Buffalo Roam for the herds of bison that graze in eastern Grand Teton National Park and Desert Bloom after an amazing raft trip on the San Juan River of Southern Utah.

Each month, Teton Yarn Company creates a OOAK colorway to celebrate the different full moons of the year. In April, the full moon is known as the Pink Moon. The Pink Moon is named after the pink ground phlox which is one of the first wildflowers to bloom after the snows melt away. This month, the Pink Moon is featured on Mountain Sock, a 4-ply 100% Superwash Merino at 438 yards/100 grams. While Mountain Sock does not have any nylon, with its tight and balanced twist, it holds fantastic for socks but soft enough for garments and has generous yardage for shawls.

You can find some of our past Full Moon Color series, such as February the Snow Moon on Mountain Sock and March the Crow Moon on Glacier Sock, on the website. Pink Moon will be going live April 23 at 6 pm MDT at www.tetonyarn.com.

Teton Yarn Company has launched their new website featuring new Spring Colors of Mountain Sock, Glacier Sock and Rainier Fingering Lace to brighten your spring knitting.

Bright beautiful colors of OOAK Mountain Sock, a 4-ply 100% Superwash Merino at 438 yards per 100 grams with a tight twist to hold up to socks but wonderfully soft for one skein shawls and garments.

Glacier Sock features soft, luxurious yak that adds depth and warm undertones to the colors while adding a touch of nylon to hold up for socks but still soft for shawls and garments.

Rainier Fingering Lace is a heavy-weight, 6-ply European 100% Superwash Merino. Coming in 150 grams skein with 822 yards, these skeins are generous for the perfect lace shawl to wear during the warmer months. The springy merino shows off lace stitches beautifully and holds its shape to show off your hard work.

Teton Yarn Company is a celebration of yarn, color and the Grand Tetons. Teton Yarn Company creates hand dyed beautiful yarns inspired by living and knitting in the Tetons. All yarns are hand dyed in my dye studio in the heart of Teton Valley, Idaho. I dye small batches of one of kind variegated multi-color colorways and a rainbow of tonal colorways for the fiber artist.
