Astral Bath giveaway winners

No, that’s not a typo. I did mean to write winners with an S.
Cass is the first winner of the Astral Bath Yarns giveaway. She had a little trouble picking one movie:
I do love Indiana Jones and his whip 😉 but I’ll have to say Star Wars – Return of the Jedi
Love the ewoks, Princess Leia in that outfit and Admiral Ackbar!
Now,…
Untangling: Astral Bath Yarns
As an artist, Ridgely Schantz has long brought colors to life on paper and canvas. A few years ago, she added wool to the list, unleashing such striking and complex colorways as Famous Blue Raincoat and Scheherazade on the knitting world. (Seriously. The names of her colors — inspired by mythology, alchemy, movie titles and many other things — are almost as awesome as the colors themselves.)
Only weeks after learning to knit,…
What to stash this week: Summer knitting
I don’t know about you, but I am definitely in a Knit All the Sweaters mood this week (it may have something to do with the Waterlily currently sitting on my blocking board!!). I’m in the middle of compiling a list of summer sweater patterns for an upcoming blog post and Hanna Maciejewska’s Endearment will definitely be on that list.
The pattern will initially be offered exclusively as part of a kit sold on The Uncommon Thread’s website starting Monday,…

Indie dyer love
I was already a fan of the A Playful Day podcast and blog when Kate launched the Love Our Indies campaign last month. The first post from Victoria of Eden Cottage Yarns — responding to a collaboration between a UK women’s group and an arts and crafts superstore chain that produced a special line of mostly acrylic yarns in the land of BFL, Hebridean and dozens of other sheep breeds — was so thoughtful and well-written….
What to stash this week: Bag some bags (and yarn, and fiber)
I am SO excited for Vicki of That Clever Clementine: this week, she reached her 500-sale milestone on Etsy! What’s even better is that she’s offering 15% off all orders of $20 or more through June 10 with the code IndieUntangledJune. To celebrate, she’s also having a fun photo-related giveaway on Ravelry.
Speaking of giveaways, check this post for info on the last leg of the Berry Colorful Yarnings/Indie Untangled social media tour….

Berry Colorful Yarnings giveaway ‘tour’
I hope you all had a relaxing holiday weekend and have been able to get back into the daily grind easily (those of you not in the U.S. can feel lucky to have had a head start on work this week). While having a lovely time with family and friends outside of the city — and when I wasn’t eating ice cream or spinach dip — I made a ton of progress on my Waterlily….

Untangling: Berry Colorful Yarnings
We knitters tend to like to try out new hand-dyed yarns “for science.” Michelle Berry’s science background came in handy when she decided to launch Berry Colorful Yarnings.
Michelle spent several years as a dental assistant, and also helped out with her husband’s California construction company. While homeschooling the couple’s two daughters, she discovered knitting. Then, in 2011, she decided to try her hand at dyeing and,…
What to stash this week, new edition
One of the things I love about my “day job” as a journalist is spreading the news and telling people’s stories. This week, I get to introduce you to several artisans who are brand new to Indie Untangled and are also fascinating, talented folks.
One of these dyers is Sandra of Duck Duck Wool. Last year, she became very popular among my knitting friends, and she was recently profiled in a wonderful Washington Post story on DC-area artisans (it’s so refreshing to see knitting and dyeing getting some great press)….
The celebration continues on Ravelry
I would like to thank everyone who has participated in the first half of the launch giveaway and to congratulate our lucky winner, who has been notified. I hope that you still enjoy receiving the newsletter each Friday, and not to worry — this is certainly not the last of the goodies you will be able to win from Indie Untangled.
Speaking of which, here are the details of the second half of this contest:
