Sizing is a challenge for sock knitters, especially when you’re knitting socks for someone else. Even if they’re conveniently around, you don’t necessarily want them constantly trying on the WIP. Dawn of Twice Sheared Sheep has a new Sock Sizing Ruler. To use it, you place the ruler with the arrow snug into the heel or toe of your sock and knit until you reach the line for your desired size. I recently added yarns from Australia’s Great Ocean Road Woolen Mill, a sustainable, boutique operation, to the site. La Bella fingering is an 80/20 blend of Superfine Merino and natural white alpaca that is incredibly soft, with not a trace of prickle factor. What to stash this week: Squishy surprises

After putting together a couple of surprise boxes this year, Dawn from Twice Sheared Sheep is going to do a whole Surprise Box Club next year! The club consists of three boxes that will be shipped in March, June and September. The seasonally-appropriate themes are A Flutter Of Wings, Playful Pool Party and Crisp Autumn Evening. Each box will contain at least eight items, including three Twice Sheared Sheep tools — goodies like row counters and stitch markers — one skein of yarn with pattern suggestions and four other surprises….

December’s Knitting Our National Parks colorway celebrates our feathered friends. Andrea of WoolenWomenFibers was inspired by a photo of a white-faced ibis with incredible purple, crimson, teal and gold feathers, captured by photographer Leslie Scopes Anderson at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in Utah. As the young folks say, she understood the assignment! Kate of McMullin Yarn Co’s upcoming yarn clubs have some openings. There is the Literature Society, a quarterly luxury yarn box inspired by classic literature, that includes a Zoom book club meeting.
