What to stash this week: Wool from Down Under

Cream colored yarn with a tag for Great Ocean Road Woolen Mill.

I recently added yarns from Australia’s Great Ocean Road Woolen Mill, a sustainable, boutique operation, to the site. La Bella fingering is an 80/20 blend of Superfine Merino and natural white alpaca that is incredibly soft, with not a trace of prickle factor. You can use it to knit Isabel Kraemer’s topolino, Yamagara’s Nichi Nichi or Noriko Ichikawa’s Azami Shawl. This blend is also available on a DK weight and is the perfect yarn for a cable or lace sweater or shawl.

Cream colored yarn.

Summer Fiesta is comprised of 70% Merino and 30% Belgian linen, the only fiber that Isabel and Nick import from outside the country. I have it on two colors — Oatmeal and Ocean Blue — and they would be great on their own (try Yamagara’s Take the Weather top) or with Lanivendole’s Aestiva.

A a little bit of winter to your stash: Megan of Megs & Co has put together a new 10-color mini skein collection inspired by the January winter landscape. Each mini is 90 yards, for a total 900 yards of color to brighten your days.

Be Andrea’s (and Wednesday’s) Valentine: These new Valentine’s Day boxes from WoolenWomenFibers are inspired by the Netflix show Wednesday. Boxes include a sock set or single skein on your choice of base and an 8 oz candle, plus the option to add on a project bag or charm set.

Paola Albergamo’s latest, the Scintillio Mitts, is a fun project created using easy slipped stitches and fingering-weight yarn. The pattern is 25% off through today at 6 p.m. Eastern.

Pink and gold yarn.

Erin of Stitch Stuff Yarn has several one-of-a-kind mini sets up in her shop. This is how she uses up leftover dye and once they’re sold they won’t be recreated.

Dawn of Twice Sheared Sheep has a number of fun, chunky clip-style markers up in her shop. You can use them to mark your place in a row or round, tracking your progress or even as a zipper pull.
