I thought it was appropriate that designer Samantha Guerin released her Hearth and Haven hat pattern this week. This simple cabled beanie, and the special colorway from Katlin of Porter Wool Co, is inspired by the comforts of home in wreath form. It is sure to keep you warm this winter and is a delightful and quick knit — I cast on and completed mine during the Knit for Food Knit-a-thon earlier this year.
I’m doing a preorder of Katlin’s lightly-speckled colorway, Hearthstone, on her Merino DK base, for the next two weeks. It will ship in early January.
Addy of Ruby & Roses Yarn crocheted these gorgeous roses for the Indie Untangled show swag bags and there are a bunch of extras on hand. If you make any purchase in the Indie Untangled shop now through Tuesday, November 28, you’ll get a rose for free (while supplies last). Use them to accent your projects or outfits. Read on for a generous discount on many items in the Indie Untangled shop.
I’m also continuing my tradition of marking the start of the holiday shopping season by giving back, and Addy is joining me with a generous giveaway! When you buy an in-stock item from the Indie Untangled shop or an Indie Untangled vendor this weekend, I will donate 5% of your purchase to Camba, an organization that provides programs in economic development, education and youth development, family support, health, housing and legal services to people in my hometown of Brooklyn.
Here’s what you need to do:
• Forward me the email confirmation from any purchase you made from an Indie Untangled vendor between 12:01 a.m. your time Thursday, November 23 and midnight your time Tuesday, November 28.
• You can see the list of qualifying vendors here, using the drop-down vendor menu. Purchases of in-stock items from the Indie Untangled shop during this time automatically qualify!
• Forward the email to me ([email protected]) before midnight your time on Friday, December 1 so it can qualify for the donation.
If you make a separate donation to Camba of at least $10 and forward me your receipt by December 1, you’ll be entered to win a $30 gift card from Ruby and Roses Yarn.
I’m also giving back to you with a sale! Get 25% off tons of beautiful skeins of hand-dyed yarn, bags and accessories in this collection with the code NOVEMBER25 at checkout. Available through November 28 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern.

The first installment of the 2024 Indie Untangled Where We Knit Yarn Club brings together Kate of Bad Lux Designs and Kacey Herlihy.
Kacey is from New York City and Kate is from Denver, and they’re both inspired by knitting in the city. Whether they’re commuting or cozied up in a cafe while it snows, they always have their knitting with them, ready to sneak in a few rows any chance they get. Their urban adventures are stitched into their projects, serving as a reminder of where they’ve been and where they’re going.
For the club, four dyer/designer teams will collaborate on an exclusive colorway and an accompanying accessory design inspired by their favorite spots to whip out their WIPs. Sign up by December 31 to join us!
