Back in 2022, my husband and adventure buddy Mitch and I embarked on an epic cross-country road trip. One of our first stops was Indiana Dunes National Park. This is one of the country’s newest national parks — it had been a “national lakeshore” since 1966 and then was re-designated as the 61st U.S. national park in 2019. We visited on a day when temperatures climbed into the 90s, but still enjoyed a challenging hike through the dunes, with a much-needed dip in majestic Lake Michigan afterwards.
Molly Klein, who makes her home in Indiana, has been visiting the Dunes for years. So, when we collaborated for her Knitting Our National Parks installment for Indie Untangled, I knew it should be inspired by this beautiful landscape. She has dyed a delicate variegated colorway on her Sweet Sock and Darling DK bases as well as a lovely 10-skein mini set that mimics the glowing sunset over the lake.
The yarn is available to preorder through Sunday, October 27. As always, 10% of sales will be split between the National Parks Foundation and the Native American Rights Fund.

Morgan of Strawberry Blonde Fibers, who hails from Alaska, is having a shop update on October 26th at 10 a.m. AKDT consisting of hand-dyed yarn, handspun art yarn and a new chunky knitting pattern called the I Love Ewe Headband.

Angela of Faeriecrafty Creations has a variety of handcrafted stitch markers in stock to add a touch of magic and whimsy to your next projects.
