What to stash this week: Your yarn-y alibi

A murder mystery knitting weekend illustration for the Denver event.

Cheryl of Row House Yarn, who organizes the wonderful Camp Knitaway retreat I attended a couple of years ago — where I got to knit on a peaceful lakeside deck and stand-up paddle board — is also behind a series of Murder Mystery Weekends. This year’s takes place in Denver from November 14-16 and features special guest designer Cecelia Campochiaro.

The “skein of the crime” is the Halcyon Hotel in Cherry Creek. You’ll book the Murder Mystery Weekend package directly from the hotel, which includes your room, meals and murder mystery entertainment, and then grab the Knitting Detective Package from Row House.

In between sleuthing, you’ll enjoy a workshop with Cecelia, a gift bag with a shawl kit in your choice of color and a private crafting lounge to relax in before a farewell lunch on Sunday. During the “Murder Board Knit-along” (!) you’ll team up with your fellow Knitting Detectives to solve the case, with no judgement for getting those rows in while you investigate.

Early bird pricing ends June 30. Learn more and book your spot here.

A background of illustrated flowers with a picture of yellow yarn, mint green yarn and pink speckled yarn, and the text Garden Party.

You’re invited to a spring garden party with these three sunny colorways from Olive & Two Ewe Studios. Secret Garden, Mint To Be and Lemon Chiffon are designed to play well together and are available on a variety of bases.

Two boxes with embroidery supplies.

If you’re hitting the road soon, throw a craft kit in your bag! Anne has stocked the Red Hen Books shop with some new ones, including contemporary embroidery and beadwork kits from Kate Wyatt Fine Art and traditional Palestinian Tatreez Cross Stitch kits from Min Amanne Designs.

An autumnal mood board for a fiber countdown box to the autumn equinox.

Count down to the autumn equinox with fluffy fiber from Knitting Lizard Fibers. Liz’s box will contain right 1-ounce bumps of fiber in coordinating hand-dyed autumn tones. Choose from Shaniki Silk, American Rambouillet, or a limited Rambouillet and alpaca blend.

For the unofficial start of summer, Francoise Danoy is highlighting her Taha Moana shawl, designed for warmer weather. Named after the Te Reo Māori word for Seashore, it brings to mind strolls by the sea. Indie Untangled subscribers can get 60% off this weekend only!

A self portrait of a man paired with a tan, gold and brown skein of yarn.

The May installment of The Knitting Artist’s Pablo Picasso Yarn Club marks the start of the painting artist’s cubism era with a self portrait created in 1906. Order by the end of the day tomorrow to receive it by June 2.
