In 2013, Etsy opened its marketplace to Chinese manufacturers, undermining the ideology upon which Etsy was founded. Although they maintain that they limit their sellers to “handmade items,” more and more I find that I, as a buyer, have to wade through pages and pages of mass-produced Chinese products before being able to view my own shop’s listings. That’s not what I, personally, consider to be support of the made-in-America artisan. So, even though the holiday shopping season is upon us, I’ve decided to say good-bye to Etsy and move my shop to a marketplace that is what Etsy used to be: dedicated to artisans and hand crafters. (My Etsy shop will be closing in December.)

You can find the new Cedar Hill Farm Company shop on Zibbet.com — the same OOAK hand painted and hand dyed luxury yarns and fibers, just a different, more artisan-supported venue. I hope that you will check out my new digs!

And speaking of the holiday shopping season… to celebrate the opening of my new shop, there will be a sale! Visit Cedar Hill Farm Company @ Zibbet.com for a holiday (Black Friday all week long!) sale, beginning November 24th and ending November 30th. Automatically save 20% on all fingering and sport weight yarns and hand-sewn project bags — no coupons needed. Visit me @ http://www.zibbet.com/cedar-hill-farm-company for those special holiday gifts!

It’s officially been a month since the Rhinebeck Trunk Show, but that doesn’t mean the excitement is over. The fabulous Michelle of Berry Colorful Yarnings sent me a huge box of yarn to sell at the show, and while I’m very tempted to keep all of the remaining skeins for myself, I’ve decided to be generous and offer them up to you.

To do that, I’m launching a Berry Colorful Yarnings pop-up right here on Indie Untangled! There are nine skeins of fingering and sport in some gorgeous smokey grays and berry-colored purples, and one sole skein of Michelle’s very cool self-striping sock yarn. The form connects directly to PayPal and the yarn is ready to ship out immediately. So make sure to get your orders in soon, before the skeins start wandering into my stash… 😉

As a new vendor to Indie Untangled, I hope you will take the time to look through my shop. My greeting cards would make great stocking stuffers for any fiber enthusiast, and my art prints are the perfect addition to any knitter’s (or art fan’s) home.

Within all my pieces, I’m interested in knitting and art. I like to recreate imaginary worlds within my art using knitted forms. I love the way the knitting stitches look and hope to capture this in my works.

All of my greeting cards are 100% handmade, with a beautiful watercolor image on the front. All the images represent some sort of knit stitch, either stockinette or garter, and are made with acid free materials.

The 30-Round Rasta Hat, just released by Elizabeth Green Musselman of Dark Matter Knits, is perfect for those days when you need a quick gift or the temperature has suddenly and dramatically dropped.

Literally worked up in 30 rounds, this hat needs just 65 yards of squooshy, super-bulky Malabrigo Rasta. Its pretty leaf-lace stitch pattern gives this hat a great texture.

The pattern includes a linked video tutorial explaining how to work the M3B (make 3 below) stitch.

Motoring Vest, inspired by a photo of a sensationally dressed woman modeling beside a Triumph Twin 500 Motorcycle in 1951, updates the modish style in this figure flattering knitted vest. Set your nav to a new and wonderful destination and Motoring Vest will take you there, with oh’s and ah’s refueling you along the way!

Garter sections and shaping highlight specific points on the body creating a flattering hourglass figure. A wide button band draws the eye up and down the hourglass, lengthening the body. A mock turtle cowl is accented with a larger button off set from the vertical panel. Knit in two pieces – the body is worked flat seamlessly (joined at the shoulders) and the button band, which is seamed on at the very end. Arm and neck edging finishes the piece. The tech edited pattern includes written directions and schematics.
