The Atelier shop has been updated with three new colours: Dexter, Christmas Grey and It’s not Easy.

Dexter is an amazing combination of vibrant reds overlayed with black.
Christmas Grey is a fabulous mix of tonal greys – from light to mid grey.
It’s not Easy is variegated green, from vibrant to dusty shades.

All are on the Sydney Merino Fingering/Sock/Shawl/4 ply base, a 100% SW Merino 2-ply springy yarn that is 400 yards and 100 grams.

I have just opened my brand new Etsy shop selling handcrafted solid lotion bars that contain the super-moisturizing powers of lanolin! As a long-time knitter, spinner, and lover of all things indie, I came across solid lotion bars for the first time at a fiber festival and I fell hard. My hands were always dry from working with them so much and the lotion bars moisturized them like no liquid lotion ever had. However, I didn’t quite love the consistency, wanted more control over the intensity of fragrance, and especially wanted to incorporate lanolin into the bar (because one can never get quite enough sheep-y goodness, am I right?) — so I decided to make my own!

After much experimenting with ratios and testing of formulas with willing volunteers, I came up with just the right combination of skin-nourishing oils and waxes, including: beeswax, mango butter, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, meadowfoam oil, vitamin E oil, and of course, lanolin. The bars have great consistency and staying power and just a little bit goes a long way. I’m having tons of fun experimenting with different scents (sweet and spicy and floral, oh my!) and am happy to work on a custom order if you have something in mind that you don’t see stocked in the shop!

To celebrate my brand new shop, I’m offering 10% off any purchase with the code “INDIELOVE” through the end of April! I’ll soon be adding sample sizes, gifts sets, and lip balms to the shop so be sure to check back often to see what’s new!

To celebrate the launch of Indie Untangled, I’m giving away a Yarn Knot kit from the next installment. Yarn Knot is my quarterly yarn subscription, and the next round will ship in May. To enter the giveaway, hop over to the website and sign up for the newsletter. The winner, chosen at random, will be selected from the recent newsletter sign-ups. The contest closes on Friday, April 25.

On Saturday, April 26, you’ll find me at the Connecticut Sheep, Wool & Fiber Festival. In addition to the vendor market, this event includes workshops, sheep dog demonstrations, a fleece sale and other activities. I’ll be in the Green Building with a selection of new colorways and kits.

Everyone always talks about “no strings attached” like that’s necessarily a good thing.

But when it comes to project bags, I like mine to stay securely closed — and that means good strings must be attached!

So yes, indeed, this Flash Sale has plenty of strings attached! From now until Monday, every drawstring project bag in my Etsy shop is 10% off — if you know the special coupon code!

That means that the Belles, the Pandoras, and the Cindy Sues are all discounted; minimum purchase of $30 applies.

Sale starts: Right Now!
Sale Ends: Monday, 4/21/14
Coupon Code: IndieUntangledApril

I’ve just released a few new colorways in Lillian. Since spring is slow to make an appearance this year, these new colors are a fun way to add a touch of spring to your knitting.

A true sign of the season is the Great Rhody Yarn Crawl, which is happening this weekend in Rhode Island. On Sunday, I’ll be on hand at the marketplace at Mount Hope Farm. If you’re in the area, try to take advantage of this event. It’s a great way to support local yarn shops and fiber artists.

There are still some spots left for the 2014 Woolen Rabbit yarn club, which will feature a Once Upon A Time theme. Six popular designers—including Bonnie Sennott, Veera Välimäki and Rosemary (Romi) Hill—have agreed to join along and create a pattern from one of their favorite fairy tales or fables. See more information here.

Above are photos from last year’s club, which featured designs inspired by the Roaring ’20s.
