What to stash this week: Summer lovin’

Linda of Kettle Yarn Co. has been working on a huge project for the last several months, and it’s pretty amazing. She just released The Boardwalk Collection, a series of six patterns by a stellar lineup of designers, all inspired by walking down a historic British pier and showing off her Islington DK, a scrumptious blend of BFL and silk. There are shawls and sweaters, as well as a hat and cowl designed by Renée Callahan,…

Untangling the Untangling kit

I’m not a sock knitter.

I certainly don’t have anything against handknit socks. The one pair I have, which a friend kindly gave me during a purge at Rhinebeck of FOs that she no longer used, are a godsend in the winter. I will probably knit a pair someday, but, for now, I enjoy making things that are more easily show-offable.

Which is why, when I approached Michelle of Berry Colorful Yarnings about a project using her self-striping sock yarn,…

A yarny tease, plus MDSW

There are some very exciting plans being hatched at Indie Untangled HQ! Well, most of it is taking place via email. While I’m not quite ready to provide the specifics of what I’m planing with three of my favorite fiber industry folks, the above photo of a recent project by designer Lara Smoot provides a little sneak peek. If that intrigues you, you’re going to want to keep track of the blog in the coming weeks….

What to stash this week: The yarn Imitation Game

There’s no imitation for this new release: the Bletchley Collection, from Eden Cottage Yarns and designer Joanne Scrace, is inspired by early computing and encoding machines, the codes themselves, and the women who operated them at Bletchley Park (yes, the place from that Benedict Cumberbatch film). The knit and crochet designs, which have a bit of ‘40s flair, utilize Victoria’s Milburn 4ply yarn range, a blend of British BFL and silk….

What to stash this week: IU’s hottest yarn clubs

I decided to channel my inner Stefon in this week’s Friday blog post. For those of you not familiar with SNL, or who haven’t watched the show in recent years, Stefon is a flamboyant NYC ambassador and regular Weekend Update guest who clued us in to hot city clubs with some… colorful characters, like “a Russian guy who runs on a treadmill in a Cosby sweater.” And Indie Untangled has some colorful yarn clubs on the marketplace this week (if you want to make a Cosby sweater,…

What to stash this week: Get your yarn ball on

Thanks to the success of the Indie Untangled/That Clever Clementine collaboration and a couple of special requests, Vicki and I decided to expand the range of yarn ball logo goodies.

There are a few new additions to the IU/TCC “family,” including three new bag styles that are perfect for your medium- to large-sized projects. We’re excited to introduce the Pandora Poke, a 11″ wide by 11″ tall bag,…

What to stash: Get your sharp little needles ready

OK, so I might not be quite so obsessed with Wes Anderson that I would drop over a grand to go on a Grand Budapest Hotel-themed cruise cruise (no, I did not make that up), but I am super excited about the Canon Hand Dyes Wes Anderson updates. The first one is happening TODAY at noon PDT, and it will have six-color self-striping skeins and six-color gradient sets inspired by the movies Bottle Rocket and Rushmore….
