We’re going back to Mount Rainier next week for Indie Untangled’s second retreat! Maribel of Rainier Roses was the perfect dyer to call on for the return to this majestic mountain for the August installment of the Knitting Our National Parks project.
Maribel was inspired by this fall landscape, captured by photographer Scott Malagold. She specializes in mini skeins and is dyeing five-skein Rainier-inspired sets on four different bases.
On fingering weight, we have:
• Classic (75% Superwash Merino/25% nylon with 92 yards each) and
• Silky (80% Superwash Merino/20% silk with 80 yards each)
There’s also Classic DK minis (75% Superwash Merino/25% nylon with 49 yards each) and even worsted weight Cien (100% Superwash Merino with 43 yards each), which would be perfect for Nancy Bates’ national parks beanie patterns.
This yarn will be available to preorder through Sunday, August 18 and will ship in late September. As always, 10% of sales will be split between the National Park Foundation and the Native American Rights Fund.

Since it’s Augustober (yes, that’s apparently a thing), Andrea of WoolenWomenFibers just had a fall update with some spooky sock sets and a Rhinebeck-themed sock set to get you ready for our favorite fall fiber festival.

Anne of Red Hen Books has a few signed copies of Krista West’s new book, Everyday Folk, which features pillows, drawstring bags, table runners and wall hangings to embroider. Conveniently, Anne also has kits for a few of the projects in Everyday Folk as well as other Avlea Folk Embroidery kits, so you don’t have to track down the supplies.
