Bellbrook

Bellbrook is a reversible, top-down, triangular shawl with ribbing and little bells that look like leaves. The bells slip right in between the ribs without disrupting the overall pattern. The pattern calls for 400 yards of fingering weight yarn and is shown in Zen Yarn Garden Serenity Silk Single.

The pattern is completely reversible. Choose which side you like best! You can show off the bell leaves on the right side or show the graceful curves of the ribbing that flow around the leaves on the wrong side.

Sand Ripples Shawl

The Sand Ripples Shawl features a lovely bi-colored cable pattern, complementary lace edging, and short-rowed garter stitch body.

I love this one! I’ve sent it off to Anzula for their trunk shows (which means you all may get the chance to see it and try it on!) but this is one I’d love to keep and snuggle up in. The Anzula Cloud yarn is so luscious.

The edging, worked as a combination of stranding (for the cables) and intarsia (for the lace), is worked first.

Stitches are picked up along the edge for the short-rowed body. The body is in garter stitch, so once you’re picked up the stitches along the edge it turns into TV knitting.

Depth (center): 14¾ in / 54 cm
Edge (inner): 68 in / 170.5 cm
Edge (outer): 80 in / 203 cm

Welcome to Rock Solid Designs! I’m Stephanie – owner, designer, seamstress, and busy mom of two. Rock Solid Designs was started three years ago as a small hobby, making project bags for friends who didn’t know or care to know how to sew. Soon others started asking for bags, and a business was born! I love taking the time to choose new and exciting prints for my products, and have so much fun thinking up new and creative fabric combinations that I think will appeal to knitters, crocheters, and crafters everywhere.

I taught myself to knit my freshman year of college, when I was literally trying to find anything to do besides my homework. It quickly developed into an obsession, and I ran out of ways to store my yarn and projects. Ziploc bags worked ok, but after a while developed holes or ripped, and honestly… how pretty is a Ziploc, anyway? Enter the project bag!

The one item about my bags that excites me the most is the unique snap closure on the box bags. This closure allows you to work on your project with the bag closed, without the risk of fraying or snagging your yarn. The intervals of the snaps also allow you to use the closure as a built-in colorwork guide, keeping your yarn nice and tidy while knitting!

May is shaping up to be a very busy month! Invictus Yarns is proudly sponsoring Tour de Sock for another season. Sign-ups for this wonderful fundraiser begin on May 1, with the actual race kicking off on June 1. Vogue Knitting Live comes to Pasadena, CA May 13-15. This will be our first year there, and we’re really excited to participate! Come by booth 115 and say hello!

In support of TdS, some sock yarns will be left in the shop while we’re at VKL, with the remainder of the stock being added starting Tuesday, May 17, once we get the car unloaded.

The Stenciled Sock Blank Club for May, June and July

The picture above is for my third Stenciled Sock Blank Club. This once a month sock blank club will include all of the sock blanks pictured. On the extreme left is “Sea Storm” to be shipped on May 4. The middle blank is “School’s Out” to be shipped on June 3 and the last on the right is “Shells” that will be sent on July 1. There are two club options to pick from. You can choose between single knit sock blanks for non matching sock or shawl knitting or double knit sock blanks for two at a time knitting and matching socks.

Better hurry though because sign ups end on Monday April 18th!!!

Spencer Hill Naturally Dyed Yarn has teamed up with Rock Solid Designs, maker of project bags, notion pouches, pattern protectors, and original knitting designs to bring you the Turtle Cove Cowl. Here in the Northeast, we can’t quite trust a run of nice weather just yet, so a snuggly cowl of Spencer Hill’s Nell MCN patterned with with turtles and the promise of blue skies is just the thing to get us through. You can purchase the kit, which contains the charted pattern and two mini-skeins of Nell needed to complete the project at Spencer Hill’s Big Cartel shop. Introducing the first pattern in the second Game of Thrones Collection! The Great Game was designed to work with Miss Babs 7 Color Gradient Set in Caroline or Yummy 2-Ply, and is shown in the Edge of Reality colorway. Be sure to check out the three amazing Great Game Sets that Miss Babs has dyed up in Caroline, her new super luxurious fingering weight cashmere blend. She came up with three amazing color sets: Edge of Reality, Edge of Temptation and Phoenix Rising.

I designed The Great Game to be a simple to knit shawl that could be worn throughout the year. It has side to side construction with a delicate lace edging that is worked along with the body of the shawl. It’s one of those knit’s that becomes intuitive early on in the pattern and provides a relaxing without being boring knit. Aside from the lace edging, you won’t have to worry about stitch counts which make it a perfect project to bring to knit group. I’ve provided instructions for the lace in both written and charted format for your knitting pleasure. I hope that you guys enjoy knitting it as much as I did!

New subscription based pattern club Wanderlust Knits is now open! Wanderlust Knits collection features 4 brand new accessory patterns released in April, June, September and November 2016.

I’ve teamed up with some of my favorite indie dyers on this collection to celebrate and spread the love for high-quality hand dyed yarn, gorgeous colors and independent makers. I’m so excited to be sharing these gems with you!

Daydreamer is the first pattern of Wanderlust Knits collection, and has just been released. It’s a generous and striking crescent shape wrap with two colors of fingering weight yarn and knitted on edging. First the body is worked top down in a playful combo of garter stitch, stockinette, stripes and eyelets. Shawl is then finished off with simple and minimal lace border which is knitted sideways while simultaneously binding off stitches.
