Showing My Mama Knits

New colourways and old favorites now back in stock on my new ridiculously soft sock base. Colourways pictured include: Painting of Koi, Jezebel and Lipstick on Your Collar. All available in 100g skeins of Superwash Merino sock weight wool – 75% merino wool and 25% nylon for hand or machine knitting. Beautifully soft Merino with nylon for a bit of extra stretch and strength. Each 100g hank is about 465 yards / 425 meters.

All wool is hand dyed in single or small batches then washed and dried ready to be knit up into your own unique creation.

I’ve had great fun the last couple of months trying out new bases and colourways. New to the shop are some British sourced and spun Blue Faced Leicester and Merino, both in Aran and DK weights. There are also some gorgeously soft and durable Superwash Merino Sock and High Twist Superwash BFL Sock waiting for a new adventure on someone’s needles. Also in the works is a massive restock of minis!

20 new colourways inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll are available in superwash merino DK and a sock weight mix of 75% wool and 25% nylon. Grab yourself a single 100g skein or a multi-pack of miniskeins. Themed project bags and stitch markers are also available.

Alice in Wonderland was always a favorite of mine. The vivid characters of the Disney cartoon helped colour my imagination as a child and some of the new colourways are obviously influenced by the film. Other characters (yarns) come straight from the book. Rereading it now, I was surprised at how little colour is mentioned. In fact, for such a lively tale, there is very little in the way of description of colour and appearance at all. But leaving so much to the imagination is where the fun begins!

I have kept this series strictly to the characters in the book Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, which leaves out a few familiar characters that appear in the later book, Through the Looking-Glass (and What Alice Found There). I save these in my head for perhaps another dyeing adventure.

Just in time for Valentine’s comes my latest giveaway. Win yourself a set of five 50g skeins of hand-dyed yarn selected from my new series, Bad Romance. There will be at least one gradient in the winning pack and the skeins will be on a mix of bases, including Merino Superwash DK and 4ply Sock wool for a total of 250g of yarny delights.

Details on entering can be found via this Instagram post.

The contest will close on 12 noon GMT Valentine’s Day and the winner will be chosen randomly on February 15. International entrants welcome (c:
