Showing Yank Your Yarn Stitch Markers

You know how it is: you’re working on a crochet project, and then you set it down or put it in “time out” for a while, but the crochet hook was separated from the project. You pick it up, and now you can’t remember which hook you were using! You can guess, but that might turn out to be a mistake.

So instead, use one of these identifier markers on your project! Each marker is on a gold lever-back earring hook, which will lock in place, so it won’t come out of your project. The clasp should fit on almost all yarns, up to super bulky! The numbers denote the METRIC SIZE of the crochet hook! Sizes available are 3.25mm, 3.5mm, 3.75mm, 4mm, 4.5mm, 5mm, 5.5mm, 6mm, 6.5mm, and 8mm.

You can order in sets of three or sets of five — mix and match what sizes you want, or you can order the set of ALL TEN sizes!

And if you need CUSTOM sizes made for you as an add-on to your set, you can get those too!

Often, in your crochet or knitting project, you will need to place a temporary or movable stitch marker. Progress keepers will work for this, but check out these great open coil stitch markers. Made of zinc alloy, they are powder coated with the best of springtime floral colors. These markers are lightweight enough for the smallest of yarns and will not distort your stitches. The coating on the metal makes them smooth and snag free! These markers are not magnetic, unfortunately. But the size and pretty colors will make them easy to find in your container o’markers!
Set of 36 markers, six of each color.  Each stitch marker is a little over 1 centimeter across.
Use multiple colors to mark special stitches, or use one of each color on each side of your two-color brioche!

Knitting and crochet are SUPPOSED to be tension-relieving hobbies. Unfortunately, we all know that sometimes our favorite hobbies make us a little …. well, TENSE. One of the main issues with working with yarn is how to maintain tension of your yarn to make even stitches. Now you may have seen people “throw” their yarn, or perhaps “pick” their yarn. Portuguese knitting — or maybe you’ve heard it called Andean, Peruvian or Bosnian — is a style that involves movements that are totally different from the usual Continental and English styles we’re so accustomed to seeing.

What makes Portuguese knitting so unique is the tension of the yarn. The yarn tension is created by running the yarn through a pin, and also, the yarn could also be wrapped behind the knitter’s neck. Using a knitting pin, or wrapping the yarn around your neck can help your hands from getting tired or sore. You can also use a knitting pin to help keep tension with your opposite hand while doing stranded colorwork. Pins, however, can damage your clothing. So what’s better? Using a MAGNETIC pin!

These magnetic pins feature a very strong badge-holding-style magnet, and a hanging hook that is securely attached to the badge. Each badge is handmade and features a fun motif that shows off your style and snark. Each pin is between 2 to 3 inches long. Each hook coordinates with the badge in either silver color or gold color.

October may be Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but cancer refuses to be relegated to just one month. Cancer is a pernicious SOB that infiltrates lives and families. We are told to “Fight cancer” and “Stand up to cancer,” but I prefer to yell, “F *** CANCER!” And furthermore, I say, “Right in the EYE!”

Cancer sucks, is what I’m saying. So I created this row counter to remind us how we should feel about cancer. To use this chain row counter, you slide the ring with the number on the end of your needle to denote your row. The lobster clasp on the end clips to your knitted piece to keep it from falling off. You use the accompanying progress keeper as a marker to denote the “tens” of the row you are on. Pretty simple huh?

In between each number ring, letters spell out “F *** CANCER”… but fully uncensored, so that you can shout it out too! The full length of this row counter is about 25 inches, so in between your projects, you can wear this row counter as a necklace!

You have a choice of all silver with silver beads, or silver with iridescent pink rainbow beads.

With EVERY SALE of this chain row counter, $5 will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

This chain row counter fits needles up to a US10 / 6mm needle.

All items shipped in a padded envelope. Nickel free.

September means kids heading back to school, anticipation of winter, and cooler weather! And, of course, beautiful fall leaves of magnificent colors… red, orange, yellow leaves falling to make a lovely soft carpet that is so fun to walk through… until you have to rake them up, LOL!

Now I live near Phoenix, Arizona, so I don’t get the fall leaves here. I’m still anticipating not-so-freaking-hot and somewhat drier weather with the end of our rainy season. Yet I still feel the pull of the colorful sights of trees in autumn in the higher country. To celebrate this beautiful time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, I’ve created the official Limited Edition September 2022 Clippy, “Make Like a Tree … and Get Outta Here!”

You know in my shop I always have a 15% discount for any orders over $20, as well as a FREE GIFT and FREE SHIPPING to the domestic U.S. on EVERY SINGLE ORDER, but I want to make that deal a little sweeter. EACH MONTH, I will be giving away a SPECIAL marker designed specifically for that month. When I run out of them, they will be GONE!

In the month of September, if you place an order totaling over $20 in Yank Your Yarn’s Etsy Shop, you will receive an EXTRA stitch marker, called “Make Like a Tree … and Get Outta Here!” The marker features a lovely maple leaf shaped enameled charm in pastel fall colors and gold trim, festooned with coordinating beads on an 18mm gold lobster clasp, for easy moving about on your knitting or crochet project. It’s a movable stitch marker, end of row or beginning of round marker, pendant, lanyard charm … YOU decide!

I don’t have many of these so make sure you get your $20+ order in now …. when these are gone, THEY’RE GONE!

“to show the way I feel
(With you I might try) my secrets to reveal
For you are a magnet and I am steel” — Walter Egan, 1977

Yarn has a wonderfully magnetic pull on us Fiberistas, and we wouldn’t have it ANY. OTHER. WAY. Until now, all of my stitch markers have been made of colored copper wire, and the thing about copper wire is that it’s not ferrous — that is, magnetic. But sometimes, you really just want a set of stitch markers that you can casually toss onto a magnet as you’re removing them from a project, or you want a stitch marker that sticks to a magnet when trying to pick them up out of shag carpet (y’all have shag carpet, right??), or you may just want to keep a tin of stitch markers on your fridge. You never know.

These sets of 30 stitch markers are made from SQUARE iron rings that have been powder coated in an array of colors. The powder coating keeps the metal from rusting, and let’s face it, make the markers look like a basket fulla Peeps. Each set comes in its own tin, which not only has a magnet on the inside, but also has a magnet on the outside, so you can attach your tin to all of your kitchen appliances or even the hood or your car, should you feel so … inspired to do so.

The LARGE size fits needles up to size US13 / 9mm.
The SMALL size fits needles up to size US8 / 5mm.

And also there’s a MIXED SIZES version! You get 15 each of the size US13 / 9mm and 15 of the size US8 / 5mm!

Nickel free.

These are my EXCLUSIVE movable design, the Reversa-Clippy! One side of the marker has a lobster clasp that will hang comfortably on most yarns with the exception of super-bulky variety. On the flip side is a round closed stitch marker that will fit up to a size 8US/5mm knitting needle. It’s two stitch markers in one!

AND … if you use two different colors of Reversa-Clippy Stitch Markers, use one on each side on your two-color brioche, to remind you what side you’re on! It can also be used as an end-of-row or a beginning-of-round for crochet! It’s a great addition to your tool set.

Here are the all the varieties!

Happy as a Unicorn Farting Rainbows (Multiple Colors)
Red Like the Sin You Should Have Committed (Red)
Eat Gold for Breakfast, P**p Glitter Later! (Gold)
She Sells Seafoam By the Seashore (Seafoam Green)
The TARDIS is Blue Like Doctor Who (Royal Blue)
Paisley Park Purple Dance Party (Purple)

Made from hand-coiled copper wire in the Magnificent Myriad of Colors, the glass seed bead is glued over the joints to ensure smooth moving. Because the rings are hand-coiled and cut, your markers may be slightly wibbly-wobbly and not completely round. All stitch markers are shipped in a zipper bag in a padded envelope.

Fits needles up to size US8/5mm.

Nickel free.

Everyone knows that when you need a crochet hook, you can’t find one. It’s jettisoned itself from your project. It’s lost in the sofa cushions. It’s ended up in your kid’s toybox. SOMEONE perhaps borrowed it and kept it. Or it may just be behind your ear but you can’t check because you need it to fix a reprehensible error in your knitting that needs you to hold on with both hands.

Okay, perhaps these can’t help with that last one, but at least these give you a slight advantage of being able to find them.

These are a set of three crochet hooks — 2.0mm, 3.0mm, and 4.0mm — that have been cut down to a smaller length and attached to lobster clasps so you can hook them to your project, your project bag, your zipper, your purse, what have you. Each crochet hook as been festooned with words to express your current feeling:

“OOPS” — 2.0mm hook
“CRAP” — 3.0mm hook
“MINE” — 4.0mm hook

Available in either black or white letter beads!

If these words just don’t speak to you, you also have the option of personalizing your crochet hooks with the words that please you most! (EIGHT letters maximum on EACH hook) And don’t worry about embarrassing me with your request — I was raised by a sailor AND I have a theatre degree AND I used to work with rock-n-roll roadies. There’s extraordinarily little that can make me blush. AND you can choose either white or black beads on your personalization.

… And by “Ball Sack” I mean YARN balls, of course! And we certainly don’t want BAD smelly yarn ball sacks. These light bronze filigree “sacks” open up to contain a little fluff ball that you can apply your favorite essential oil. I understand that lavender helps to keep critters away from yarn, as well as put you in the proper “Zen” mood for your fibercrafting. You also get a replacement fluff ball so you can change out your essential oil scents if you like.

Aromatherapy just makes “Frankincense”, right?

This is a “Big Clippy” moveable stitch marker. The lobster clasp is 23mm long and will fit comfortably on worsted, chunky, and bulky wool. You will get one Big Clippy marker along with a replacement fluff ball. The colors are randomly chosen but they are all great colors. COMES UNSCENTED!

You can also use it as a zipper pull on your favorite sweater, project bag, or purse. You could also use it as a scarf or shawl clip. Add it to your favorite chain to wear as a pendant, or add it to your work lanyard. The possibilities are endless! You will receive 1 marker, made with a plated lobster clasp and a bronze Celtic Knot charm, connected with a hand-coiled wire ring of matching Filigree Bronze, festooned with an Lavender Mist glass bead.

Hey, it’s October, and the Pumpkin Spice Flavored EVERYTHING is hitting the coffee shops and store shelves! And you know what else that means … the illustrious Stephen West has announced his newest, latest and greatest MKAL, Shawlography! Now last year, his Slipstravaganza Shawl broke the record (if there is such a thing) for Number of Stitch Markers Required for a Single Project (54!) so I suppose this year he’s making up for that by requiring Shawlography to use exactly one Stitch Marker.

ONE.

ONE??

ONE STITCH MARKER?

You’re KILLING me, Smalls!

So your favorite stitch marker maker sat herself down and thought about how to create some sort of “project support” for the Shawlography (to help with the topography, so to speak) and here’s what I have for you: The (Mostly) Magnetic MKAL Mix Box O’Notions!

Included in the 3 inch x 3 inch locking box are:

— 1 set of 10 US6/4mm magnetic stitch markers
— 1 set of 5 magnetic Reversa-Clippy movable stitch markers
— 1 set of 3 “What the #$%^&?? Stitch Comes Next?” movable markers: RS (right side), WS (wrong side), and OOPS (for those not-so-happy accidents)
— 1 set of 3 mini crochet hooks on a key ring in sizes 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm
— 1 teeny tiny scissors that despite their teeny tiny size, do really cut and are actually quite sharp!
— 2 tapestry needles for you End Weaving Pleasure (yeah, THAT exists. )

The locking box itself has a magnetic pad at the bottom to keep your magnetic markers in the case more securely! And there’s still room for what ever bits and bobs you may have.

— ALSO ! —

Just in case the Box O’Notions wasn’t enough for you, you can add on your choice of a chain row counter for an extra $20 (regularly $25)! You can choose:

— Knitting on the Dark Side of the Moon — triangular links in size US6/4mm, featuring Pink Floyd prismatic color beads and a rainbow charm, along with a progress keeper featuring a sun charm
— Back on the Square Chain Gang — square links in size US6/4mm, featuring Awesome 1980’s neon colored beads (that GLOW under BLACKLIGHT!), and a progress keeper featuring one chill sheep charm
— The Cat’s in the Cradle Again — cat-shaped links in size US10/6mm, featuring iridescent black beads and a black cat charm, along with a progress keeper featuring a black and gold heart.

All markers and chain row counters are made from hand-coiled copper or steel wire, the glass seed bead is glued over the joint to ensure smooth moving. All stitch markers are shipped in a zipper bag in a padded envelope.

Nickel free.
