What to stash this week: Yarn stories

If you’re a fan of knights and ladies, or just really cool yarn clubs, then the Poisoned Apple Club from Round Table Yarns is for you. The four-month yarn club follows the Arthurian story of the poisoned apple. Each shipment includes a different yarn base with a special club colorway inspired by that month’s portion of the story. Sign-ups run through Sept. 15.

What to stash this week: A new ewe

Linda of Kettle Yarn Co. desired a yarn that was sheep-y and rustic, yet soft enough for princess-y skin. So, she helped dream up Baskerville, a blend of 60% Exmoor Blueface, 25% Gotland and 15% silk. This Kettle Yarn Co. exclusive is a worsted-spun 2ply that comes in a 437-yard skeins that Linda indigo dyed in lovely shades that range from a lightly heathered silver to a deep blue.

Here’s a Valentine’s Day gift for you,…

What to stash this week: Winners and llamas (and yaks)

As a journalist, I love a good follow-up story. We have one this week: In my recent interview with Carl Koop of Bijou Basin Ranch, he revealed that they were in the process of collaborating with a number of indie dyers on special colorways for their Tibetan yak yarns. Before I knew it, I had a Marketplace post from them announcing a set of seven colorways hand-dyed by Philadelphia-based Lattes &…

What to stash this week: A (free) shawl and a sweater

I always say, there’s no such thing as too many shawls or too many sweaters:

Jetty is a simple and stunning crescent-shaped shawl designed by Linda of Kettle Yarn Co. for her Islington DK, a blend of 55% percent Superwash British Bluefaced Leicester and 45% silk. It has an eyelet lace detail embedded in squishy, comforting garter. Through next Friday, Oct. 2, you can get the pattern for free with the purchase of two skeins of Islington DK….

What to stash this week if you’re not in Maryland

If you’re not headed to yarn heaven at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival (and if you are, there’s an IU meetup on Saturday — 1:30 p.m. in the Lower Corral) or going to the Knot House indie pop-up, there’s plenty of non-festival stashing opportunities — including some free yarn!

There’s no shortage of bright colors from the dyers on Indie Untangled this week. Kim has introduced Technicolor Peacock,…

Indie Untangled is turning 1! There are giveaways to celebrate

When I officially launched Indie Untangled a year ago Saturday with my first newsletter, I couldn’t predict what kind of ride I was in for. Sure, I had plenty of goals: to create one place for yarn addicts like me to go and find out about new dyers and shop updates, and to craft a weekly email that knitters would look forward to opening in the morning, while sipping their coffee or tea….

From now through Feb. 15, buy any two skeins from the Berry Colorful Yarnings/Indie Untangled Pop-up and you will receive one pattern of your choice FREE from an Indie Untangled designer. Click here to see the list,…

Holiday newsletter giveaway Part I

A few weeks ago, I was trying to think of a way to bring the joy of the holidays to Indie Untangled, while at the same time thanking all of the newsletter subscribers for their support and helping you get to know some of the site’s vendors a little bit better. And so, Newsletters to Santa/Hanukkah Harry — several days of fantastic giveaways — was born.
