The second annual Yarni Gras marketplace will take place on Saturday, January 27 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Faubourg Brewing Co., which is the oldest operating brewery in New Orleans. I’ll be joined by several Louisiana-based dyers and makers: Terra of Mitchell’s Creations, Jensen of Sugarplum Circus, Robyn of Teenybutton Studio and Rick of WhimzeeStitches. In addition, Carolyn and Michelle of Olive & Two Ewe Studios will be traveling from Florida and designer Jamie Hoffman of Knitosophy is coming down from Alabama and has plans to design a shawl for the occasion.
Whether you’re local, or want to plan a weekend getaway, there will be lots going on for Yarni Gras. There are plans for a craft night in a fun location, craft classes through NOLA Craft Culture and Needle NOLA and an outing to view one of the most creative (and tiniest) Mardi Gras parades. There will, of course, be tote bags with this incredible design by Jessica McGuirl of First Pancake Studios.
Registration will open Saturday, October 28. Be sure to fill out this form to stay on top of all the Yarni Gras news and help us plan a super fun weekend!
Carolyn and Michelle of Olive & Two Ewe Studios are celebrating the BBC show Call the Midwife — PBS just broadcast Season 12 — with the birth of a new colorway. Called Nonnatus House, it’s available to order on five bases.
