Are you one of those special people who loves books and the fiber arts? Today we open sign ups for our Jane Eyre installment of McMullin Fiber Co. Literature Society. Each package will contain one skein of yarn and some extra goodies inspired by the novel. Unless you sign up for a double dose, then you’ll find two skeins in your package. If gothic romance isn’t your thing, next month we’ll be featuring Gone With the Wind and in December: Little Women. You choose if you’d prefer Light (light fingering to sport) or Heavy (sport to bulky) weight yarns, so no matter your project preference we’ll have you covered! Signing up for any month means access to our members-only page where you can pick up extra skeins of the previous month’s yarns before they’re available to anyone else, and special discounts on other literary themed yarns. Our favorite part of the club is listening to the audiobook while knitting with the colorway it inspired. Combining our two great loves!

Also new — we’ve received so many custom dye requests that we’ve added a Dye to Order section to our website for our most popular colorways. Ordering a sweater’s quantity or a single skein just got easier.

It’s a lot of fun to collaborate with designers. Sometimes the process is smooth — a design is already in the works and colors are needed. Sometimes the process is a little more raw with lots of changes in design and color options. Either way, the results are beautiful, kits are born and I have a wonderful new knitting relationship.

I recently began collaborating with Carolyn Bloom of Bloom Handmade Studio. Little did I know that we have been quietly stalking each other’s Instagram feeds for awhile. I’m not sure who reached out first but contact was made, yarn was sent and the result is Marilyn’s Cowl and Hat (can you figure out how the name of the design came to be?). The cowl and hat are knit holding multiple strands of different yarns. The resulting texture yields an effortless drape and warmth as well as drawing the eye to the ombre effect of the gradient yarns used. Kits are available on my website and a knitalong will be held in Carolyn’s Ravelry group with a start date of October 8th.

I’ve collaborated with Katy Carroll of Katinka Designs several times — we have miles and miles of text messages. Our latest kits are in celebration of Knitmas! There are two kits available for pre-order: a shawl and a poncho. Choose one or choose both — either way, there are several color options. Kits include all yarns needed to complete your Knitmas project as well as a Ravelry pattern download code, notions, treats and more. The Knitmas Kits have a special introductory price throught October and will start shipping mid-December — in time for Knitmas! A knitalong for both projects will start in January in Katy’s Ravelry group.

I’ll be vending at Knitter’s Day Out this Friday and Saturday in Pennsylvania. I’m also excited to have a trunk show at Knitty City in NYC October 4-6.

I’m gearing up to dye the orders that I got for the Outlander ADVENT sets, and am now taking preorders for Outlander minis sets (24 minis). These PREORDERS will run through October 3rd.

The details for the bases and sizes offered will be in the listings as follows:

5g & 10g sizes available on John Merino ($45/$90), Bruce Yak Merino ($50/$100), Bruce Yak Silk Single Ply ($59/$118)
10g & 25g sizes available on Bruce Yak DK ($110/$240) and William DK ($85/$200)

These minis sets will ship AFTER the ADVENT kits are knit up and the colors revealed, in the first week of January.

The Advent kits are 25 colors; these minis sets will be 24 colors, with the 25th color available as contrast to the set; all colors are a mystery until the ADVENT kits are knit up, but you can follow their unveiling each day during the Ambah KAL beginning December 1st.

While colors in this set are a mystery, I will say that the set is heavy on the greens and browns and neutral foggy shades of the Highlands, with some pops of color thrown in for good measure and proper character representation…

Please note that there will be additional sets of Outlander minis available at my spring shows, and in my online shop in the new year, so this isn’t your only chance to get a set (but it’s the only chance right now to guarantee your set on the base and size of your choosing).

Lavender Lune Yarn Co., Asylum Fibers and Knitting Expat Designs have collaborated to bring you a shawl and yarn kit just in time for Indie Untangled next month!!!

Mina Philipp’s gorgeous new pattern will be released October 19th, the day of Indie Untangled. She designed it with a kit Sam and Stephanie created combining both of their yarns. The magic of this shawl is that you hold a strand of mohair throughout to create a glorious blend of colorways and an oh-so-soft FO!

Preorders for two different yarn kits will be up on Saturday September 15 @ 10 a.m. Central/11 a.m. Eastern
Where: www.lavenderluneyarn.co AND asylumfibers.com
If you are an Indie Untangled ticket holder you can purchase kits to pick up the day of the Indie Untangled event at the Asylum Fibers/Lavender Lune Yarn Co. booth.
Or you can have them sent to you just before the pattern releases.

Quantities are limited and preorders will only be open for about a week!!

**And did I mention all three of us are so excited to see y’all next month, come see us in booths 19 and 20!**

Wow, did I get some great inspiration photos for September! This month’s photo comes from Karen, who sent me this gorgeous photo of an early wintertime scene, complete with clear aqua waters, the last leaves of autumn, storm clouds and towering snow-capped mountains.

Karen says the photo came across her Facebook feed; she loved the color and wanted to knit some Fair Isle using this photo as inspiration. It just so happens that the colors I’ve created will work great for Fair Isle (and I didn’t even know this until I emailed Karen to let her know I’d chosen her photos!), in addition to lots of other projects, of course.

I was so taken by all the different colors in this photo I ended up creating five colorways around it! The cold, clear aqua of the water became “Crystalline,” the rich red of those lingering leaves became “Last Leaves,” the deep charcoal-with-a-hint-of-blue of the mountains and tree became “Winter Shadows,” the multi-gray hued clouds became “Snow Clouds,” and finally, all were rolled up into a soft, dainty speckle named “Winter Revelry.”

This month’s colors are offered on Aurora (singly-ply fingering-weight Superwash Merino), Philomena (three-ply fingering-weight Superwash Merino), and Birte (DK-weight Superwash Merino, Cashmere, and silk). As usual, there’s a listing for each color on each base.

September Subscriber Inspiration colors will be available for preorder from now through September 23, 2018. That’s a bit longer than usual, but I’m off on an adventure with 10 of my high school girlfriends, which we do every five years to celebrate our joint birthdays. So, I figured I’d just leave them open until I return. Then, I’ll get to work and get them out to you in about three weeks.

I’ll be skipping October inspiration colors due to New York Sheep & Wool preparations (read: marathon dyeing!), but will resume Subscriber Inspirations in November, so if you’re a newsletter subscriber please feel free to send me an inspiration photo anytime between now and mid-October, for November’s colors (and, if you’re not a subscriber, you can sign up over on my website, and play along with me!).

And, don’t forget, whoever’s photo is chosen receives a free skein of yarn in any of the bases being offered, in one of their special colors!

We at Inner Yarn Zen love surprises and all things yarnie, add in Outlander and you have pure joy.

We are offering an amazing Outlander advent calendar filled with two dozen 93-yard minis all dyed with Outlander in mind. Sprinkled throughout you will find other Outlander-inspired gifts as well as a project bag to put it all in.

Kits will ship November 15, arriving in time to start opening them on December 1.

C.C. Almon of Java Purl Designs and I have once again combined our powers to bring you another wonderful kit. This kit is inspired by C.C.’s I Love You More Than Pumpkin Spice sock pattern. There is nothing better than combining two things you love — Pumpkin Spice and wool. The colors included in this sock kit are an updated version of my Pumpkin Spice colorway from last year and a mini skein of Dark Roast (which has a dark brown purple hue to it). I have two kits available, one with the pattern and without. All kits will include a Snug sock kit and Pumpkin Spice-inspired goodies.

Please keep in mind when ordering this product that this is a stock photo and there are no dye lots. This means that color distribution and saturation will vary greatly from skein to skein, from kit to kit, and from what is depicted in the photos. Preorders for these kit are available starting today and will close on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. EDT. I can only make a select amount of kits based on the supplies I have on hand. All kits will ship in late October or early November 2018.

Hi Everyone!

It’s been a crazy summer, and I can’t wait for October to roll around… That chill in the air, the changing colors, apple cider donuts, RHINEBECK!!! With the end of summer I alway start thinking about Fall and Halloween, and with Halloween on my mind I just dyed up a color for my Harry Potter Club members called Deathday Party… As soon as the skeins were out of the dyepots I knew that I needed to dye up about a million more skeins in this color.

It’s a lovely ghostly silver background color with speckles of yellow, orange and mossy green; the color screams FALL and HALLOWEEN and RHINEBECK all in one breath, and this is the color that I’m offering up for preorder this year as my Indie Untangled Rhinebeck Trunk Show color. I’ve also created a solid contrast color to compliment Deathday Party, called The Deathly Hallows, and both skeins are on my brand new website now for preorder!

I’ll have both of these colors available on three different bases:
* Charles Merino: 80% SW Merino, 20% nylon; 400 yds/100g
* Emily Single Ply: 100% SW Merino; 400 yds
* William DK: 75% SW Merino, 25% nylon; 245 yds/100g

You will have two purchase options, available here:

TICKET HOLDERS: if you are coming to the trunk show on October 19, you may purchase skeins that can be picked up at my booth during the show. I will have these orders packed and ready to hand off to you at the event.

SHIP IT TO ME: if you are not able to attend the trunk show, you may purchase skeins that will be shipped just prior to the show.

PLEASE make sure that you purchase the appropriate listing; if you aren’t a ticket holder, don’t buy from the TICKET HOLDERS listing, and if you want to pick yarn up at the show, don’t buy yarn from the SHIP IT TO ME listing!

Preorders will close on September 25, 2018.
