Have you ever purchased a skein of yarn with a really eccentric and unique colorway, maybe on vacation or at a fiber show, and then watched it sit in your stash? The right pattern to show off this beautiful skein never quite seems to appear, while the urge to knit up this gorgeous yarn hits you whenever it catches your eye.

The wait is over. Wind that skein and grab a copy of the Atiru Shawl pattern. This design plays with the arrow shawl shape and its use of simple garter stitch in the body pairs perfectly with variegated or eccentric yarns. And that same garter stitch makes this shawl project an excellent accompaniment for your upcoming holiday preparations, allowing you to sneak in a few stitches here and there around the melee.

Last October, my family planned a trip to coastal Maine to explore Portland, Acadia, and Saco — amazingly, the latter being the place my best friend used to live, our visiting there being pure coincidence. So when I got to tell her I was going, I was met with the most THRILLING excitement, and tons of incredible recommendations. In many ways, it felt like she was there, leading me beneath ancient canopies as I wound my way through old cemetery paths, sitting down to dine on oysters at Eventide, or walking along the frosty Old Orchard Beach and admiring the colors found in the wrackline.

When that same person then later told me she was doing a Maine-inspired collection, she asked me if I’d be willing to guest dye a colorway. I already knew exactly what I wanted to do. And of course, if you’ve been around me for a few years now, you know this best friend is none other than Jess of Witchfire Fibers!

My inspiration for “Cape Elizabeth” came from a rocky hike at Fort Williams Park, where, dotted along a gray and blue landscape where stone met sea, an abundance of hearty wildflowers greeted us. The colors were remarkable and surprising against the overcast palette around us, and so, so reminiscent of Maine.

“Cape Elizabeth” will be available on the following bases: Silk Sock, Classic Fingering, Woolen Fingering, Classic DK, Woolen DK, Classic Worsted, Woolen Aran, Baby Suri Lace, and American Rambouillet Fiber.

The preorder opens Friday, September 26th at 9p Eastern and listings will remain open for a full week, unless capacity is met sooner. Turnaround time will be five weeks, shipping the first week of November, between 11/3 and 11/7.

This colorway will only be available at this time!

Mauri Tau Pullover

“Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn’t hurt the untroubled spirit either.” ― Elizabeth Zimmerman

This well-known quote from Elizabeth Zimmerman resonates during this increasingly combative time. Knitting gives our souls the space to heal, to reflect, and to find peace. These moments of quiet contemplation renew our strength and prepare us once more for the struggles of daily life.

Mauri Tau means calm or serene in Te Reo Mãori, though I personally understand it as “settling of the soul.” This top-down yoke pullover features an eye-catching yet simple slip-stitch motif to create a soothing knitting experience. Even if you put it down for a while, it will be quite easy to see where you left off! The simple motif also allows you to use your more variegated yarns to knit it up and still not lose the beauty of the stitch pattern.

The abundance of calming stockinette allows the pattern to be easily adjusted at the body for length and waist shaping. You can even add extra flourishes at the sleeves and hem of the pattern if you like.

This pattern includes stitch count checkpoints, tables for all sleeve decrease rows, written and charted instructions (along with mobile and LVA versions), all graded in 14 sizes up to a 66-inch bust.

May the ease of the slip-stitch pattern and meditative nature of the stockinette produce a pocket of serenity in your busy life.

At Which Way Crafts, we believe every maker deserves tools that feel as extraordinary as the art they create. That’s how our Enchanted Crochet Wands were born: a marriage of practicality and playfulness, where resin alchemy meets the rhythm of crochet.

Each wand begins with a bamboo crochet hook base. We hand pour shimmering resin around it, sculpting swirls, vines, blooms, and curves until the ordinary becomes enchanted. Some sparkle with golden leaves, some bloom into tulip tops, others twist like violin scrolls or carry the weight of ancient relics. No two are ever the same, just like the projects they help bring to life.

But these aren’t just pretty tools for your craft table. They’re designed to glide smoothly through yarn, lightweight in the hand yet sturdy enough for hours of making. We like to think of them as fantasy crochet tools: companions for your creative adventures, whether you’re conjuring shawls, casting cozy blankets, or brewing up one-of-a-kind gifts.

Because each wand is custom made, we invite crafters to reach out before ordering. Want yours tipped in a specific shade? Dreaming of a metal base or a favorite brand of hook? Email us at [email protected] and we’ll work with you to bring your vision to life. After all, the wand should choose the maker.

For us, these hooks are more than products. They’re a reminder that craft itself is a kind of magic. Every stitch is a spell, every project a story. And with a wand in hand, you can stitch up something truly enchanting.

Explore our Enchanted Crochet Wands and find the one that chooses you.
