The popular Mermaids’ Garden lace shawl pattern has gotten a glow-up, and the pattern is available at a discount for a limited time!

Now with close-up photos of every stitch pattern, charts, richer descriptions, more stitch counts, and helpful tips and links, this pattern is even more enjoyable to knit. It’s appropriate for adventurous beginners and beyond.

Take 25% off The Mermaids’ Garden with code mermaidglowup through August 28, 2025, on the website, Ravelry, and Etsy.

Perfect for stash diving and using up some single skeins of sock yarn, this top-down, drop-shouldered 3/4-sleeve pullover only looks like it’s stranded knitting. In reality, you only ever use one color on any row, and work a “dip” stitch here and there to make it look like stranded colorwork.

Short rows are worked to shape both the neckline and the shoulders. The neckline shaping lowers the ribbing a bit so that you don’t feel choked by the boatneck, while the short rows at the shoulders angle them downward to give you less underarm bulk.

To keep things even more fun, enjoy a Drops of Jupiter-themed playlist on Spotify. to jam to while you knit (link is on the pattern page).

First Blush of Autumn is our newest small-batch DK colorway. It captures that moment when the forest first begins to exhale summer; when moss cools, leaves flirt with rose and copper, and the light turns to pale honey. It’s dyed for wanderers who prefer a brass compass to a clock and a woodland path to a boulevard.

This palette moves like morning mist through the trees: mossy green, petal rose, ember-ed copper, and soft honey gold, with quiet transitions that read beautifully in both knit and crochet. Think shawls that drift like leaves or hats that catch the first chill at the nape of the neck.

Each skein is hand dyed in our Virginia studio in intentionally small dye lots to preserve nuance and charm. As always at Which Way Crafts, we lean into our 1930s explorer heart: a touch of Art Deco elegance, a hint of mystery, and colors chosen to feel like a well-loved field journal pressed with leaves.

Available now while this first batch lasts.

As part of our birthday festivities, we’re releasing special colorways inspired by our logo and the joyful spirit behind our name. This week, meet All Love Unto Ewe, a brilliantly cheerful skein with vibrant, high-definition speckles. The name plays on the heart of our studio’s identity: Olive & Two Ewe, which sounds just like “All Love Unto You, ”the kind of positive, welcoming energy we love putting out into the world.

All Love Unto Ewe pairs perfectly with last week’s release, Ewe Blue, and together they showcase the vibrant, playful colors that define our brand.

👜 Also new this week: a fresh batch of Tutto bags from Atenti, the stylish, functional carryalls we adore. Beautifully crafted and built to last, they’re a favorite for keeping your projects (and tools) organized in the most elegant way possible.

Come celebrate with us all month long and treat yourself to something joyful!

Are you ready for a mystery knit-along that’s out of this world? We’re excited to share our new yarn sets for the Cosmic Connections MKAL from Paper Daisy Creations! We decided to take this year’s theme in two different directions, and drew our inspiration from both the macrocosm and the microcosm. Which one is your favourite?

The yarn for these sets is a luxurious Superwash Merino/Cashmere/silk blend. It’s buttery soft, and the silk gives it just a bit of extra shine and lustre. Each yarn set includes two full skeins of the main colour and seven half-skeins for the contrast colour gradient.

These yarn sets include FREE SHIPPING within Canada and the US. We recommend ordering by August 21st to ensure your yarn arrives in time for the start of the Cosmic Connections MKAL on September 3rd.

We have a limited quantity of each set, and you can find them all on our website. Enjoy!

Whakairo, the respected art of Maori wood carving, resonates with me because, while it is a work of art, the carvings also tell a story. The patience and diligence of these wood-carvers in honing their skill amazes. The results honor their heritage as stories and lessons embed themselves in these carvings for future generations.

Knitting, like whakairo, requires patience and diligence. I use knitting, specifically knitwear design, to honour my heritage and carry the stories, values, and lessons of my people forward. I wanted to create a piece to pay tribute to this art form, which I was able to recreate the feel through the usage of twisted stitches and cables for a fabric rich in texture.

The Whakairo top is the sibling pattern to the Whakairo cowl. I loved working with the rich textured stitch pattern (originally created by Hitomi Shida) so much, exploration in another form was necessary.

This top is worked bottom-up and in the round until the armhole separation, where each side is worked flat. The drop-shoulder, boxy fit with minimal shaping only at the armholes, makes it really easy to make adjustments as you please.

Download the Whakairo top and dive into the deep textures to create a piece that will serve your wardrobe for many years to come.

There’s something magical about a project that’s both beautiful and relaxing to knit, and that’s exactly what I set out to create with The Empire Shawl.

It’s a striking, symmetrical triangle shawl with a soothing rhythm: alternating garter and stockinette stitch sections, a bold slipped-stitch panel, and playful colorwork that radiates into the body. It’s the kind of knit that keeps you engaged from the very first stitch, but still lets you sip your coffee, chat with friends, or watch your favorite show while you work.

I designed The Empire Shawl in my own Empire Estate DK, a custom-spun, 100% New York wool yarn that’s truly farm-to-needle. Every skein begins with sheep raised on Elly’s Acres Farm in my home state, and is carefully milled at Battenkill Fibers to preserve the fiber’s natural loft, warmth, and character. The result is a yarn that blooms beautifully on the needles, drapes like a dream, and makes every stitch feel connected to the land and the hands that made it. Whether you’re an adventurous beginner ready to explore shaping and texture, or a seasoned knitter looking for a meditative project, The Empire Shawl was made for you.

The pattern is fully tech edited and test knit, with written instructions, charts, and tutorial links for every technique so you can cast on with confidence.

🌱 Celebrate growth, strength, and peace with every stitch…

The Koru Cowl is a stunning stranded colorwork project inspired by Te Ao Māori, the Māori worldview that honors the deep connections between all living and non-living things. The unfurling motif comes from the koru, the spiral of a silver fern frond, symbolizing new life, growth, strength, and tranquility.

This cowl is a beautiful way to build your colorwork confidence. The nearly-symmetric motif provides a meditative rhythm, while long stretches of resting color give your hands and mind space to breathe. You’ll practice stranded knitting, master locking floats, and deepen your appreciation for how simple stitches can carry so much meaning.

Originally worked in soft, rustic Shetland wool from Harrisville Designs in fingering weight, the Koru Cowl is a joy to knit — warm and light, with crisp stitch definition that makes the motif shine.

🌿 Wrap yourself in a story of renewal and connection.

Cast on the Koru Cowl and let each round remind you of the beauty of growth and the peace of nature’s patterns.
