We will be moving over the holidays, so the etsy shop is taking a hiatus and will be shut after 30th November 2016 until the New Year.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve been able to publish a new pattern. Since I am currently in the process of co-authoring a pattern book, all of my energies this year have gone in that direction and everything is very hush-hush. However, it’s basketball season at my house, and that means that something simple and fun needed to be on my needles to keep me in my seat instead of up and yelling at the referees. That’s exactly how the Verge Shawl, and its name, has come about–“verge” meaning on the edge, which is where I spent most of my time while knitting it.
Knit on the bias in light worsted weight yarn (Miss Babs Yowza), Verge is a versatile and reversible shawl pattern. This triangular shawl is worked in garter stitch, making gauge optional. It is finished with a broad openwork lace edge that gives just enough of an elegant touch. Not only is this pattern visually reversible, but it is also incredibly versatile. The size and shape make it wearable as a shawl, a scarf, or a cowl, which is perfect if you live in an area of ever-changing and unpredictable weather like I do. Although the pattern was initially worked up in worsted weight, it can also be knit in DK weight and instructions are included in the pattern for this yarn substitution.
The aspect that I enjoy most about this shawl is that it is simple enough for both beginning knitters and experienced knitters who knit while their attention is focused elsewhere, like on a sporting event or a television program. Despondent Dyes has gone Coastal! We are pleased to announce that Black Sheep Knitworks in the village of East Hampton, New York, has just received a large shipment of Despondent Dyes yarns. They join Stash in Corvallis, Oregon, and Wool ‘N Wares in West Linn, Oregon, in carrying our regular colorways.
Black Sheep Knitworks also has a sampling of our special Christmas color. If you are anywhere in the area and in need of some slightly irreverent, but beautiful yarn — go see them! They’re at 47 Newtown Lane.
After many years away from selling yarn, but during which I extensively refined my dyeing techniques, tested out bases, and worked on matching up yarns with just the right patterns for them, Elliebelly will be reopening in January of 2017. I am so grateful to all of the knitters who hung out with me on my Ravelry group during the years when my yarn wasn’t for sale, and I am looking forward to making new knitting friends when I reopen. Elliebelly will always be a very small, hand-dyed by me, whimsical operation that offers luxury yarns in beautiful colorways.
For now, I hope you’ll visit my website and sign up to receive email as we move towards our launch date (personally, I receive way too much email, so I promise to keep it to a minimum and fun). It’s exciting and a little bit frightening. But my motto is still the same: Go Knit Something!
Rainbow knitting Llamicorns have arrived for the holidays and they are very very busy knitting all of their holiday gifts. Good thing I have lots of yarn to keep them busy.
This is a pre-order for the kits and I have two types of kits available. Kits will only be avaiable for pre-order until 11/22/16 or until the kits run out. These kits will ship out in early Decemeber.
Each kit will include the following: 1 beautiful project bag sewn the ever so talented Debra of Addicted to Sock Knitting using fabric that has been designed by me; 4 Holiday Rainbow Knitting Llamicorn stitch markers; 1 skein of either my Glitz base or Super Sparkle Base in an exclusive colorway; and some additional holiday inspired goodies.
There are two types of kits available the first is the Holiday Llamicorns which will include a skein of Glitz Base yarn in color ‘Wrapping Paper’. The second kit is my Snow Llamicorns kit which will include a skein of my Super Sparkle Base in color’ Snow Fairy’

Noel from Wanderlust Woolves and I have collaborated together to bring you some adorable Winter Animals and their woodland charms. These particular creatures are available as a kit which will include: your choice of stitch markers, a project bag, a skein of my Comfy weight worsted yarn in an exclusive color and a download code for Noel’s Neko Cowl pattern on Ravelry.
This kit is only available for pre-order until November 13th, 2016 until 8 pm EDT. After that these little creatures will scatter and hide deep in the woods.
Additionally, while the website still includes some fall inspired colors such as Mums, new winter inspired colors like Winter Berry, Elder Tree, Ice Castle and more are starting to be listed on the website.
Offering hand dyed yarn to fiber enthusiasts. During our 2nd year of business, we will be donating $1 — for every skein sold — to charity. The designated charity for September through November 2016 is Hope for Paws, an animal rescue operating out of Southern California.
